To Whom You Look For Your Support And Motivation?

There was this post on John Chow dot Com in which he reveals the answer to a question most frequently asked to Mr. Chow. The question is, To what he attributes to most of his blogging success? The answer to me and everyone else was a surprise and truly speaking I like the answer he gave. Here is the answer:
The number one reason for my Internet success is My wife. Wasn’t the answer you were expecting, was it? Well it’s true and I’m gong to tell you why. You can be the most knowledgeable person in the world about blogging and Internet market but if you don’t have the support of your wife or significant other, it’s really really hard to be a success at anything.
Mr. Chow was very true in stating that you need support from your nears and dears. Its very great when you find this support right in your home from your wife. The most important thing is you will never ever be able to appreciate your own success story unless you have some one very close to you and to whom you owe this success
If ill be able to make any mark in blogging in future my answer will also be the same as of Mr. Chow. I have my support system at home named Shivani -my wife.
I take this opportunity to ask the same question to all you people out there.
To whom you owe your success (no matter how much it is) and to whom you look for support and inspiration.

There are bloggers writing obituary on Entrecard[ 1 , 2 ] ; their plea is that Entrecard not doing anything great for them, reason, they says it just creating junk traffic for them. Obliviously bloggers dream for plenty of unique loyal visitor who frequently visit their blog read their posts and make comments but if you sign up and place an Entrecard widget on your blogs most of the traffic you receive from it are of those visitors who just visits, Search for your Entrecard widget, drop one and leave. But still I recommend that you should stick with Entrecard and remain cool and calm, I will tell you why.
What is your Entrecard visitor’s Bouncing Rate?
Bounce rate measures the percentage of people who come to your website and leave “instantly”. Bounce rate measure quality of traffic you are acquiring. In case of Entrecard Traffic source usually it stands around 80 to 90 % for a common site. That mean the 80% or 90 % of traffic from Entrecard Source drop their cards and instantly leave your site. But how would you answer this “if somebody not found your site and its content worthy to spend some quality time for reading and commenting on it, then it’s your fault or his fault” I need your comment especially on this.
Who says Entrecard droppers are not unique visitors ?
Have you gone thru this stats report on Entrecard which displays the top Entrecard Droppers on your site? Do you know them before this Entrecard concept? I believe there are some visitors who are visiting and dropping their cards regularly on your site. May be they are from those remaining 10% or 20% visitors of your bounce rate analysis stats..
I could never found these sites if Entrecard wasn’t there
Am also visiting various blogging sites and dropping my cards. In the last one month I come across some really interesting sites, which off course I would not found if this EC wasn’t there for my help. Am giving here some brief list of some good new sites I discovered thru Entrecard..
KIWIPULSE
DARK IS EASY
BLOGGIN-ADS
TYLER CRUZ
INSPIRING QUOTES
DOODLAGS
SAPHRYM
HOW2BLOGGER
Now tell me frankly have you discovered any new site thru Entrecard on which you are visiting regularly. This Crazy concept of visiting site dropping cards on blogosphere colleague blog has provided some blogger a unique platform for exposure..
It was not possible for me to advertise my site with Johnchow if Entrecard wasn’t there
On 17th of this month my 125X125 Entrecard widget was there on Johnchow for the whole day. It was not possible to do so the other way ($$$$). I was very happy and on that very day my Visitors graph Jump upward and comedown like a Poll Walter.
I run a Credit Giveaway Contest and you feel overwhelmed by your response
I was thinking to run a contest to boost some RSS and e-mail subscriber. But I was not sure as what to offer in prize. Many thanks to Entrecard It give me this unique opportunity to make this contest a success and yes off course I have win some subscriber too..
So in the nutshell wht hold you back not to stick with this beautiful concept of Entrecard. Moreover is there any price you are paying to get this hell lot of people visiting your site for a second , I don???t know why few people making shout and talking negative about Entrecard concept, Well its working for me Hope it working for you also..

What is Link Bait and why you should care about it?

WIKI says Link bait is any content or feature within a website that somehow baits viewers to place links to it from other websites. Matt Cutts defines link bait as anything “interesting enough to catch people’s attention
Why people try out different methods to attract links?
As I already explained HERE that the algorithm used by google in deciding a website PageRank is based on quantity and quality of inbound links that are associated with a particular web page. Bloggers love to see lots of incoming links to their article. In order to receive links from High PageRank site usually bloggers try out to bait some big bullies to write something about them in their blog. Link building and link love also aims to increase the quantity of high-quality, relevant links to a website. When anyone runs a contest some times he also makes a condition that you have to write about the contest in your blog. This is nothing but an attempt to earn some incoming link to the site. Incoming links to the site article can be in the form of a web page, a blog post, social book marking via digg, post on fire, and stumble upon, tagging of a site, or any other method..
In nutshell, Link Baiting is nothing but an endeavor to earn a higher PageRank so that you can compete with other sites to appear in search engine result for a relative topic.
What are various ways to bait links?
There is no undying formula to bait links; but still there are some approaches through which you can generate incoming links. These approaches called hooks, well I can’t say if you use them how many links it will produce for your site. Here is brief Description of each of them.
NEWS HOOKS
This been proved to be the most efficient one. If you write about the latest news or current affair there are chances that you would definitely grab great quantity of links benefit from it. Users will more and more link your article as the news scoop spread around the world. Tell me which News scoop you have featured recently? Well HERE is mine.
HUMOR HOOKS
This is a second most used hook by many Bloggers. They use various Funny and humorous YouTube Video, Funny Pictures and article as an attempt to get lot of links from various sources. This amazing Japanese guy is my Humor Hook.
INFORMATION HOOKS
Writing about useful information always give this advantage that reader will definitely book mark it for their future reference. My informative post on automatic upgrade of Wordpress Installation was an attempt to build some social book marking.
INSTRUMENT HOOKS
Creating some useful tool or instrument which can be exploited by readers then it will have countless incoming links to your site. Like for example creation of a new WordPress Plugin or WordPress Themes. HERE is my tool which helps creating WP Text widgets from mere 9 to a number you decide.
EVIL HOOKS
Write Really BAD BAD BAD about John Chow, he will then elucidate the stuff and you will a link from his blog. (But please don’t try this at home:-) NO EXAMPLE as I never tried this hook.
Now if you like this post then link it from your blog ![]()

My previous post was on a Junk Mail which I don’t want to see in my Inbox but don’t know what to do about it. Today am again sharing an e-mail which I received from my friend Rajendra. It’s a very short story but contain a very emotional and touchy message.
Its goes like this?
Little girl and her father were crossing a bridge. The father was kind of scared so he asked his little daughter, Sweetheart, please hold my hand so that you don’t fall into the river. The little girl said,”No, Dad. You hold my hand.” What’s the difference? Asked the puzzled father. There’s a big difference, replied the little girl. “If I hold your hand and something happens to me, chances are that I may let your hand go. But if you hold my hand, I know for sure that no matter what happens, you will never let my hand go.†In any relationship, the essence of trust is not in its bind, but in its bond. So hold the hand of the person whom you love rather than expecting them to hold urs”

Frankly speaking you can’t do anything about it so simply ignore it. Never ever give your personal or bank detail in an e-mail offer like this. There are cases when people get fooled by such fraud offer and lost their valuable money.

Sumedha Karmahe Voted Off SAREGAMAPA
January 17, 2008 by Shanker Bakshi

Is this true, girls votes for boys Contestants and boys votes for girls contestants. If this is true then this may be one reason why all the girls contestants voted off from all major Singing Competitions whether it is Indian Idol, Star Voice of India or SAREGAMAPA challenge 2007. But why? One of the logic which some of my friends told me is that the boys are more cost conscious, is it so, they know every vote counts but yes then every vote reduce balance in their cell phone and every SMS steal some money from their pocket. But girl votes whom they like and never calculate how much this love and affection cost them.
Now Sumedha Karmahe voted off from SAREGAMAPA, this is very sad, but the format of the show required someone to leave every week. This Barbie Girl from Chattisgarh had won lots of appreciation from all the mentors Judges. As I said format of the show is like some one has to leave the show, but how far this elimination was right? Only you people can justify it.
Sumedha Karmahe born in 1983 is a finalist on Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2007.Karmahe attended Weidner Memorial High School. On 13 July, it was announced by Bappi Lahiri that Karmahe will be singing for the upcoming movie Ranjish.
What is Page Rank? Everything you want to know about Google Search – Explained.

The Big Question: How google searches?
Wondering why other search engine can’t beat Google. Ever thought how google find your information in the web haystack. When you search some information/content/keyword on google it search into 25 billion different web pages/documents and returns with most appropriate one which you were looking and thats too within a fractions of second. Task is seems next to impossible but when google performs it seems a child play for it.Get find by the google easily is all thats we bloggers wants. We want if someone searches on google for information or contents or a particular keyword, and yes, if it is there on our website it should be visible on the very first search page. But do you feel it happened. Then what is the reason? A question arises in your mind as what is the criteria that google adopt in exhibiting relevant information from websites and display it as result? And how dose it rank websites for relevant information to be display on result page 1, 2, 3 and so on.
What is PageRank?
Google says “the heart of our software is PageRank. Google’s founders, Larry Page and Sergey Brin, invented PageRank and it is the basis on which Google works Google dose it wonderfully with an analysis algorithm. Google’s PageRank algorithm assesses the importance of web pages with the purpose of “measuring” its relative importance within the set.Google Defines PageRank;
PageRank relies on the uniquely democratic nature of the web by using its vast link structure as an indicator of an individual page’s value. In essence, Google interprets a link from page A to page B as a vote, by page A, for page B. But, Google looks at more than the sheer volume of votes, or links a page receives; it also analyzes the page that casts the vote. Votes cast by pages that are themselves “important” weigh more heavily and help to make other pages “important”.
Definition explained;
So its all depend on the importance of a web page, now the question arise how web pages get importance. The answer is; they get importance when some other web pages link them or refer them for particular information. Google consider this linking as a vote. And this vote decides the PageRank of a particular web page. The other significant factor is that how important that web page is which is giving back link or reference to a particular web page. In other words in order to rank some web page at high PageRank it is necessary that this web page is back link or refer by some other highly ranked or important WebPage.
In other words your web page will be Rank high if it has been back link, vote or refer by some other highly ranked web pages/websites.
Weighing of PageRank;
A PageRank weigh on a scale of 0 to 10 where as 0 is the lowest rank and 10 is the highest PageRank. 6 out of 10 PageRank means probability that a person likely to click on a link to arrive at a particular page is 6 out of 10 tryouts it can also be distributed in percentage, like in the given case it will be 60% .
If you want to more simply it you can say that; if someone searches for a particular keyword and your web page link appear on result page the probability that a person is likely to click your web page link is 6 out of 10. A PageRank is displayed by a Green Bar.
How you can know PageRank of your site?
Google Toolbar:
One method to know the PageRank of a particular web page is thru Google Toolbar. If you have installed a google Toolbar on your Internet explorer, it shows PageRank of every page you visit. Its a new feature added by google to its Toolbar
Through various Check PageRank Tools available:
If you haven’t installed google Toolbar with your IE, another method is to check PageRank with the help of various PageRank Tools available. I found CheckPageRank really exciting.
Dose every web page has a PageRank?
Google do this exercise of Page Ranking on quarterly basis, yet page rank of every web site / web page keep on changing on daily basis. So when you see a PageRank of a particular web page on your google toolbar its may be an obsolete value. When Google Rank any web page it shows in green bar.
Is High PageRank is everything: High Page Rank Obsession;
Some times webmasters seems to believe that they would be survive in money matter market if they don’t have a high PageRank assign by google. You may found certain SEOs (search-engine optimization) offer to sell high PageRank links to webmasters as links from higher-PR pages are believed to be more valuable. Buying and selling of high PR backlinks is bad in the eye of google, it has publicly warned webmasters that if they are or were discovered to be selling links for the purpose of conferring PageRank and reputation, their links will be devalued.
Google may slap you, penalize you or may be de-indexing you from its search engine if you may try this not so good method for raising your web pages PR.
How much we should care about our PageRank?
Well different people have different about it. Internet Business Coach from Australia Yaro Starak feels that rather then scratching our head on PageRank we must concentrate on various other thing. According to him the most important variables to worry about are:
1. Incoming links to your site.
2. The relevancy of the pages linking to your site and the PR of these pages.
3. The keywords that other sites use to link to your site.
4. The keywords on your website in particular in places like page titles & headlines.
On the other hand cash quests says you should care about a page rank because “People will pay for it”
My web site PageRank;
Well if you talk about my web site PR, you can see in the right corner of my site its been assign by google at 3 out of 10 and am quite happy about it. This blog is only two month old toddler. I believe its doing well. So keep visiting and make me a real Dot Com Guru one day.

This is now a very common term among youth today. If you still want to know what blog is all about then let me explain, a blog is a website where post are written in chronological order and commonly displayed in reverse chronological order. Many blogs provide commentary or news on a particular subject such as food, politics, or local news; some times it regards as personal online diaries. A typical blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs, web pages, and other media related to its topic. The ability for readers to leave comments in an interactive format is an important part of blogs. As of September 2007, blog search engine Technorati was tracking more than 106 million blogs pages.
Word “blog,” was coined by Peter Merholz, who jokingly broke the word “weblog†into the phrase we blog in his blog peterme.com in April 1999. This was rapidly adopted by other weblogers. Blog also means “to edit one’s weblog or to post to one’s weblog.
There are different types of blog you found on internet, they can be classified into various categories, like a blog which contains Video is called Vblog, and blogs containing audio files called Podcasting blog. One comprising links is called a Linkblog, a site containing a portfolio of sketches is called a Sketchblog or one comprising photos is called a Photoblog. Blogs can also be defined by which type of device is used to compose it. A blog written by a mobile device like a mobile phone or PDA is called a Moblog
Blogging in India is still not as trendy as in west. I would like to mention here few blog which popular amongst people. One of them is Indiauncut.com published by Amit Verma. This former editor of cricinfo.com writes about almost everything. The other one which There is one more blog Desipundit.com which is actually a collection for the best of Indian blogosphere. Rashmi Bansal, publisher of a popular youth magazine called JAM write a blog which covers topics affecting youth, as it title says it all youthcurry.com.
Samir Lal from Canada write a blog which is very unique in one sense, this complete blog he writes is in Hindi, he named it Udantashtari. His blog has won “Best Hindi Blog” for 2006 and he also bagged the “Best New Blogger Award†for the same year. This is the best gift for all those folk who search for some good Hindi article on internet.
The coming out of blogging has brought many controversies, legal battles and other often unforeseen consequences. bloggers releasing confidential information, employees who blog about aspects of their place of employment and bloggers you write about their personal lives which include the reference of other people who might not want to expose events which bloggers reveals, This give birth to adverse consequences or sometimes loss of employment too. One such incident which remembers now is when Gaurav Sabnis an employee of IMB India expose in his post so called false claims about a management school IIPM. The Management of IIPM threatening to burn their IBM laptops as a sign of protest against him. This led to the resignation of Gaurav from his services to IBM India(see more…)
But still blogging can be use for raising issue of public concerned like this one which I found very interesting churmuri.com, a blog published by Krishna Prashad in support for recognition to Malgudi Man R K Narayan. So if you are interested in writing and have a good writing skill but never got a chance to publish then blogging is for you. There are various sites which can guide you through how to create a blog, besides there are so many other sites which provide various blogging templates and blog software which help you to publish whatever you wish, a new blog everyday
Increase Text Widgets in WP from mere 9 to a number you wish
January 16, 2008 by Shanker Bakshi
Filed under Blogging Resource
For those who switch over from Google’s blogger to Wordpress: one thing always annoy and that’s the limited number of text widgets. By default you only have 9 text widgets. I mean this is too little number. In blogger you enjoy the luxury of addition as many external HTML text widget as you wish. So I was looking for a plugin which can enhance number of text widget in Wordpress, but unfortunately there is no such plugin available (as far as I know).
Ultimately you have to experience this Wordpress hacking which will make you able to increase the number of text widget.
But before you do any WP hacking, its better you “Back up” original files!!!
1. You have to edit widgets.php file a little you will find widgets.php in the wp-includes folder find a chunk of code that begins with
function wp_widget_text_setup() Where it says
if ( $number > 9 ) $number = 9;
change 9 to x (x being the number of text widgets you want)
2. Next, find the chunk of code that begins with:
function wp_widget_text_register() change 9 to x in followings line:
if ( $number > 9 ) $number = 9;
3. Finally, look for this:
function wp_widget_text_page() Where it reads:
Change 10 to x+1 (i.e., one higher than your desired number of widgets)
IÂ WILL advise you to edit the file offline with your favorite editor. And then replace it with original. And yes please don’t blame me if the sky falls down on your head while doing so, though I hope you will be able to sail smooth with these instructions.
