Content is Queen, Marketing is Queen.
I believe Darren Rowse emphasized that too.
If you spend too much time on writing quality content, but did not put much time into marketing it, do not expect folks to come across it any time soon.
Got traffic, no content, this is like pouring water into a bucket with a hole in the bottom, it ain’t gonna hold.
Well, I guess they are other marketing techniques, not just these “evil” ones heheh.
It’s a balancing act. Good quality content coupled with effective and creative marketing will attract readers. Frequent updates with content people are interested in will help sustain your success.
@ Deimos -Thanks for that analitical comments.
@ Marty -So you think its a balancing act. Marketing is as desired as good content to make a blog hit in blogsphere.
A person always succeeds without taking evil means and if the intentions are clear. Only thing is that it takes much longer than the one succeeding through evil means.
Also, it is true that equal time has to be given on writing as well as marketing. One without the other — its not done!
It depends what you think evil is exactly. Wouldn’t you do anything you can to get as much traffic as possible for your site? Wouldn’t you offer your parents’ old black and white TV as a first prize in a funny contest? That would be original marketing for my taste. Not evil. I’d follow a guy like that to see what he comes up next. That wouldn’t necessarily mean I would like him, but I would still follow what he’s writing about.
Every blog has it’s own niche and set of readers. We can’t reach out the entire blogosphere by just writing a good content. It’s the boggers way of increasing traffic to his blog. The word “evil”, I think is an exaggeration.
I thought you were talking about really black hat seo. The evil ways you mention are not that evil
I’m trying to be as clean as possible, but it’s hard… just as in life
I don’t think it is evil ways…. you can say it is desperate ways to get traffic in the fast time to earn money.
Or something like that…….
Content is king is definitely not the case anymore. Come on, how many times you read something that look similar to you, but, just the writing style different?
How creative a person can be for marketing a blog or a product or anything for that matter. remains to be seen!
Right said Brother
