To know on which subject you would be comfortable writing posts is sometime proving to be a difficult task. If you are into that dilemma then don’t think much about it, write whatever comes to your mind. Soon you will find at what you are good at.

[2] Making Money online is peripheral comes with blogging.

Hardly you will find any blog which talk only about making money online. Well that’s a very thin line to walk on. You can not this song for long – ohh dear, come I will tell you how much money I make online. Yeah for sure you need to bring that inner ability of writing to entertain your readers. So better you write in your own comfort zone and money will flew out of it as peripheral.

How to Download Videos from YouTube?

June 24, 2008 by Shanker Bakshi

Many of the videos that you watch on YouTube are really awesome. If you are not in Japan then you must like to download them on to your desktop for uninterrupted viewing. In Japan average Internet download Speed is around 14 Mbps, this is really fast and out, it is as good as watching a video stored in your computer hard drive.

There are two smart ways by which you can download videos from YouTube or from any other such video hosting site. Let me explain;

RealPlayer Version 11

Install RealPlayer latest version 11 and enable web recording and downloading option, it gives you ability to download video you view in web browser directly to your desktop. It allows you to download almost all embedded videos you see on internet.

RealPlayer 11 put a “Download this video” button on web pages that have embedded video content, all you have to do is to just click that button and get your favorite video downloaded to your computer.

NetVideoHunter

If you use Firefox for browsing internet then NetVideoHunter is a must installed Firefox Plugin. NetVideoHunter is a Firefox add-on; which allows you to download videos and music from almost all video-sharing sites. You can download videos from YouTube, Google Video, MySpace, Metacafe, Dailymotion, iFilm, Videoegg, Veoh, Blip.tv, etc You can download music too, if it’s in a player on a website like MySpace Music player.

You must go through instruction page as how to use NetVideoHunter for downloading your favorite videos and music. Click Install to download NetVideoHunter. Visit site for more information.

Wait For The Apple Season

June 19, 2008 by Shanker Bakshi

While the whole world is waiting for Apple iPhone, its India launch is still uncertain and surely not in near future. (Will be around early next year). Apple wants to tie up with some specific mobile service provider for its launch in india; Bharti Airtel and Vodafone are the two strong contenders for the deal. May be Apple would like to go with Bharti Airtel as it has the largest amount of mobile subscriber base in India compared to the Vodafone. It will cost around INR 24000 for 8 GB iPhone version while 4GB version would cost approximately INR 20000.

Apple India is playing a silence lamb role right now and not commenting anything about its (iPhone) coming to India. Let’s hope it will do something about it and soon we will see millions of Indian using Apple iPhone.

Update* -Apple has decided to launch iPhone 3G in india with Vodafone.

WordPress 2.5 Live With It

June 19, 2008 by Shanker Bakshi

This post is a study about the question which I asked to my reader in a poll last week -Do you think WordPress 2.5 is really Superior then its old version? Well, almost the same number of votes were stated in favor and against on the subject. I also toss this question among Blogcatalog Community. I would like to thanks to those who participated in poll and also express their views. Let see what they expressed;

thewriterspulse says

I haven’t had a problem with it, and I’ve seen no reason to go back to a previous version.

Reverting to an earlier version of wp means subjecting your blog to a version that has a security hole in it. As for the results of the 2.5 and 2.5.1 upgrades they are variable. Some people had no problem at all but for many others, myself included, there are serious problems that have yet to be fixed. If you are having image problems then here’s an useful link onecoolsite.wordpress.com/2008/05/20/wordpress-image-uploading-troubleshoot…If those instructions do not work for you then wordpress.org/support/ You will find the same question you posted here on the wordpress.org support forum here wordpress.org/tags/upgrade under wordpress.org/support/topic/182214

PetLvr says

Do the earlier versions really have security holes?

I’m not sure – I think that’s a myth … 2.3.3 is apparently still secure as far as I know. When they issued 2.5 there were security holes, and 2.5.1 was then released and is the latest secure version. I also believe that 2.2.2 was/is pretty secure as well. The thing about asking whether or not to upgrade is this – 2.3+ drastically changed the way wordpress operates and introduced Tagging. A lot of plugins were upgraded to work better in the 2.3+ tagging environment, and some were dropped. Wordpress.org has been trying to release new versions every 3-4 months or some timeline, and took too long to release a meaningful 2.4+ and skipped right over to 2.5+ version. 2.5 not only ALSO changed the way the database and wordpress works over 2.3 but changed the dashboard and operation and feel of wordpress. A lot of plugins have been updated to work with 2.5+ series

I believe the only wordpress that the .org is maintaining any support and with the plugins is the 2.0+ series .. So, if you have 2.0 – you’re safe and you should have safe plugins. If you have 2.1 – you can’t go back down. You may be safe at the latest 2.1+ version but – one of these days everything will catch up to you and you won’t be able to get cool plugins, or cool templates, or anything like that – because wordpress.org has told us – they intend to keep upgrading to newer versions. So .. the day will come and you will want to upgrade – but, you must realize – you can’t upgrade from 2.1 to 3.3 or some future version … If you are on 2.1 .. you should upgrade to 2.2.2 … then to 2.3.3 then 2.5.1 etc etc and making backups for each upgrade, upgrading plugins to the latest version .. it takes more time. I’m still using the InstantUpgrade plugin and it literally takes me 7 seconds to upgrade each blog to the latest version. If you are on 2.3+ you might have noticed that top bar that suggests there is a new version out there, and warns you to upgrade. In the 2.5+ series – it does the same with the plugins – and, can automatically upgrade each plugin to the latest version too.

DaneMorgan says

It gets a little complex, actually. You have to look at two things. What is a latest secure release and what is on an upgrade path. 2.3.3 is on a support path. They won’t release any more 2.3.x EXCEPT to fix critical security problems. 2.5.1 is on an upgrade path. They will continue to release new 2.5.x releases for bug fixes, security patches and feature additions. 2.1.x is also a support path where they will release security patches, but I don’t recall when the commitment for that path ends.

XIII says

Imho it’s bigger, but not better. Image uploading is awkward and unintuitive and widgets that were once WYSIWYG and meant for newbies are now a pain in the ass to manage.

carlgalloway says

I wish the darned thing would handle multi-lingual sites out of the box. I’d also like to see plugin management enhanced, its pretty bad at the moment. The gallery still needs to be improved, and the wysiwyg editor is rubbish. Actually, I’d like WP to be more like Serendipity.

werelax says

I would vote for gallery improvements too. Particularly ability to store pictures in subdirectories. ie uploads/images/people or uploads/images/nature.

Participate In Forums ( 1-10 ticket per day ) – Participate in 2 of his forums and you will get entry methods depending on how much you participate. Here is the first forum on His blog and second EntreForums.

Re-birth of Shanker Bakshi dot Com

June 8, 2008 by Shanker Bakshi

I completely lost my blog last month, what you see now is the mirror image of my previous blog which is based on memory about how it was before ceasing. It took whole month to re-build it. But they say every accident is an opportunity to learn something. It was a heart breaking experience for me. Let me explain how it happened and why it happened so you may also avoid mistakes which I did and ruined everything.

I am not a full time blogger. I am in a job which eats 12 precious hours of my day and that too for full six days of a week. I start my journey to my job every morning at 07:00 AM and come back home in the evening at 07:00 PM. Spend one hour daily in the evening in reading blogs of my fellow bloggers. Try to write blog posts every alternate day (most tough job for a part time blogger). So because of short of time I delegated WordPress installation and up gradation job to one of my friend Abhishek, who also own a site hosting company Technoportsolutions.com

What was the blunder?

My WordPress 2.3.1 was having lots of bugs so when the software upgraded to 2.5 version, I requested my friend not to upgrade software and installed new WordPress 2.5 altogether

Our WordPress saves data in SQL format and you are always advice by everyone to keep on taking your database back up from your PhpMyAdmin control panel. So before installing WordPress 2.5 my friend suppose to take Backup of SQL Database. He did, but unfortunately the SQL backup file he downloaded from PhpMyAdmin Control Panel was corrupted and was not complete infect it was downloaded with lots of bugs in it. So when he tried to upload SQL Data back on newly installed WordPress 2.5 it was not uploading. He don’t have any other back up in hands so either he has to make good that corrupted file and upload it. We pray god to do miracle for us.

I wrote mails to my friend bloggers, raised questions in Forums and searched for help at many places but no luck. I definitely would like to mention here that one of my newly founded blog friend Michael Aulia was in touch with me all thru this tough time and suggested few measures which unfortunately didn’t work but thanks Michael for being there and doing that. You are great and I am blessed to found you. Abhinav Sonkar also showed his concern while the blog was down.

So how I get my blog back?

Well that was quite unprofessional and very un-scientific way thru which I got my blog back, so I would not reveal how I managed to rebuild it again. Instead I would like to ask you this – Do you subscribe to your own feed to any of your mail ID or in any feed reader – If not then do it now, you will always have a copy of your blog posts in your INBOX. That’s it.

What I learn from it?

The moral of the story is never delegate important task to others just try to learn things to do by your own.

The first thing I did after getting my blog back – I kick out my friend’s hosting site Technoportsolutions.com, learned how to take back up from SQL database from PhpMyAdmin control panel and how to upload it. I shifted my blog on a new hosting site Bluehost. Believe me they are superb, they extend live chat help, give you unlimited storage of data and an excellent customer ticket management system.

Happy Blogging Shanker Bakshi Dot com. Thank god you are back in my life again dear. I was missing you like anything for this whole month. Never leave me again or I would die.
