If you wanna be the next big internet baby then start a new dot com venture give it a fancy name something like Flickr, Meebo, Wikiyou, Mahaloo Bebo make it big and then sell it to Google.

If sources at TechCrunch are to believe  Digg will soon be under big Google’s cap. As per TechCrunch, negotiation between Google and Digg were on since last six months.

Digg started in November 2004 by Kevin Rose, Owen Byrne, Ron Gorodetzky, and Jay Adelson with funding of 11.3 Million now as per an undisclosed source at TechCrunch price offered by Google would be around 200 Million. Whoooping.

Digg is a website made for people to discover and share content from anywhere on the Internet, by submitting links and stories, and voting and commenting on submitted links and stories, in a social and democratic spirit. Voting stories up and down is the site’s cornerstone function, respectively called digging and burying. Many stories get submitted every day, but only the most dugg stories appear on the front page.

In its endeavor to power and rule internet fraternity these are few companies which already acquired by Google;

Pyra Labs the creators of Blogger, a blogging publishing platform acquired by Google in year 2003

Writely a company responsible for the online word processor acquired in year 2006

Keyhole, Inc. a company which developed a product called Earth (Google Earth) acquired in year 2004.

YouTube A video sharing site acquired in year 2006

DoubleClick a company that provides Internet ad serving services acquired in Year 2007.

Postini a company who manage their own email servers acquired in Year 2007

Feedburner a site which provides media distribution and audience engagement services for blogs and RSS acquired in year 2007.

I would also like to share this very exciting video “here comes another bubble” with comical lyrics by The Richter Scales. It puts a question whether present web 2.0 is another bubble in the Web Tub.

See it and give your opinion.

    Thanks for this info, Shanker. I was thinking of another domain that my relatives can put up their own blogs. Too way to go, but it’s a good tip on how to choose a domain name. There are a lot of sites acquired by Google already. This is interesting.
