My daily eight hour job requires hard work on computer; back home six hours blogging also call for a fight with my newly purchased HP Presario laptop, the result was expected and pretty obvious, I’m going through “dry eye syndrome” ,
itching, burning, and irritation of the eyes, sometimes called “dry eye syndrome,” is one of the most common problems treated by eye care professionals. I advise all my blogger friends out there, please take care as too much stress on eye and working long hour on computer is harmful for eyes. It is essential to have regular breaks so that your eyes can have a rest.
Hope it will be all right soon.
Google AdSense Ads Are CPC or CPM – Can You Opt Price Model
September 27, 2008 by Shanker Bakshi
Couple of days back one of my friend called me up and asked that he has good amount of traffic to his site but he hate putting CPC (Cost Per Click) ads instead he is interested in putting up CPM (Cost per Impression) ad inventory, is there any way that he can opt only for CPM advertising ad inventory of Google AdSense.
His question is valid; bloggers dishearten when they sees ad stats like 7000 Page Impression 10 clicks. They wish if some one could pay them on per page impression basis. Google AdSense has any answer to their quarries?
Before we precede any further let me explain what CPC and CPM Price Models are?
Cost per click (CPC) is the amount of money an advertiser pays search engines and other Internet publishers for a single click on its advertisement that brings one visitor to its website.
Cost per impression (CPM) is frequently used in advertising to represent cost per thousand. Each time an advertisement loads onto a users screen, the ad server may count that loading as one impression. Publisher gets paid after an ad gets thousand page impressions. So the big question is can you opt CPM or CPC price Model on their AdSense Ad Units. Actually the rights which an AdSense Publishers can opt are:
- Display Text Ads Only, Image Ads Only, or Text or Image Ads (default).
- Display Ad unit in a variety of sizes and formats
But a publisher can’t choose between AdSense Price models CPC or CPM.
AdSense follows a CPC Price Model but there are AdWords Advertiser who bid on CPM price model, so if ad unit you are displaying on your blog/site is based CPM price model then you get paid on CPM basis, that is why few publishers wonder they can’t see any outgoing click from ad unit but they get paid by Google, the reason being they are showing up ads based on CPM price model.
Both image and text ad units are based on CPC and CPM basis, but you don’t have liberty to choose price model for your ad units. Which ad unit will appear on your blog/site is decided by ad auction unit. In order for a CPM ad or an image CPC ad to win in the ad unit auction and appear on your site, it has to produce an effective CPM greater than the sum of the individual text ads that would otherwise appear. For an image ad to appear on your site, it has to produce an effective CPM greater than the sum of the individual text ads. This is called Ad Ranking system of AdWords.
Few publishers thinks that AdSense image Ad units are based on CPM method, but its not true Image ads are based on both CPC and CPM price model. But you are recommended to opt both text and Image to get the maximum benefit from your AdSense Ad inventory. If you choose only Image ads to display on your blog/site you might also see public service ads if there is a limited inventory of image ads relevant to your site content. So better you opt for both Text and image Ad Units.
Hope it will help you understand appearance and payment system of AdSense ads on your site.
I will explain some other method similar to contextual ads beside Google AdSense. Keep looking this place.

Who is Right – Mr. Chow or Mr. Rowse

Recently I sign up with Amazon Affiliate to make some more bucks. It’s been a couple of weeks since I installed Amazon Widget to see how it goes, but to grab some more information what other has their say on it, I find two very interesting posts about Amazon Affiliate. Back in June 2007 John Chow wrote on his blog “Why I Am Not An Amazon.com Affiliate”. He gave some rational reason how useless Amazon is for a MMO (make Money Online) blog. In reply Darren Rowse Posted a post “9 Reasons Why I AM An Amazon Affiliate”. Rowse presented his side of view about Amazon Affiliation, In support of Amazon he gave 9 reasons and suggested that even a make money online niche blog can also use Amazon to earn money by writing reviews and selling Amazon products on blog.
What John Chow Says about Amazon Affiliate
- Amazon offer only 4% commission on sales which he think is not very high.
- Amazon products are also available in the store near you, he believe product should be Exclusively at Amazon, so that you can take advantage of less competition.
- There is no passive income with Amazon, while other network pays you life long commission on income of referrals
- Amazon Products are not specifically targeted to Make Money online blog.
What are Darren Rowse 9 Reason
- Amazon is a trusted Brand
- You can actually increase your commission after reaching a specific sales point.
- You don’t just earn a commission on the product that sell on your blog, but you earn a commission on anything that a person buys within 24 hours of you sending them to Amazon.
- Easily Integrated
- Various payment options Amazon.com gift certificate/card, direct deposit, by check.
- Small Payments add up to a huge Total amount. ( that not a big point that you made here Rowse)
- It’s an Investment that Matures Over Time.
- The Holidays are Boom Time ( he is happy that he is making huge money with Amazon)
- Wide Array of Products.
My take on above.
So tell me with whom you want to go. Well if you really asked me Darren Reasons are smart but john Chow’s reasons are more practical. Believe me it’s really difficult for a MMO blog to get money from Amazon’s Pocket.
Still how you can make money with Amazon?
Sign up with Amazon Affiliate. Write reviews about Amazon Products on your blog, smartly provide affiliate link in reviews send them to Amazon and pray that they buy some product over there. If they will buy a book of $ 25 you will get a commission of 4% on it which will be $ 1, but you if are lucky enough to sell a product of $ 2500 you will get $ 100 and that would be a great compensation for your efforts.

When we live to our dreams all the barriers and obstructions to our goal get eliminated. Our mindset become receptive to new ideas and the flow of energy in us increased to many folds. Any objective with all its challenges seems to be with in our reach. Life is more exciting and each moment is worth living. How Much Crazy You Are About Your Blog Design?

Your favorite MMO blog John Chow dot Com has gone thru a complete blog design makeover last week. Shoemoney already did that a couple of month back. Worth mentioning here kid Carl Ocab stated in his recent post that bloggers in their early stages worry about their design too much. They spend countless hours working around their theme,… they lose time or if not, lose energy to create a good post. Problogger Darren Rowse warns; blog design is important at creating a first impression but when you find yourself tweaking it, reworking it, planning your next one more than actually writing content for your blog you might be in trouble.
I agree with his statement, yes blogger do concern too much about their blog design rather then concentrating on writing good articles. Well I guess everyone has to go through this stage of blogging, I remember initial blogging days when I used to change my blog theme every month.
It will be interesting to note what your take on the following:
I’m planning to re-design this blog in next one month or so, initially I consider buying a premium theme and going through a complete conversion but now I feel I will do the redesigning by myself and only will make few necessary changes in blog header design and placing some extra widgets. My blog friend Nadeesha promises me that he will help me out doing this.
Buddy Sayed Balkhis helping you pimp your blog design, provided if you sign up to his feeds and lucky enough to be chosen by him for blog re-design services.
Well if you think blog design or theme plays an important part then I would like you to analyze following

But if you wish to do so you can opt to buy and install a premium blog theme on your blog. Here is where you can find one:
You can grab a unique blog theme as low as US $ 79.

Don’t Care What Other People Are Saying About You
September 16, 2008 by Shanker Bakshi
Don’t care what other people are saying about you. The moment you start listening to the critics, is the moment you start to fail.
This was the statement made by Mr. Loren Feldman in recent Izea Fest held at Orlando. Loren runs a video blog 1938media.com where he plays with his puppets for creating news. In his words – “We are satirists. We also do parodies. We are controversial sometimes. We seem to be pretty popular.
Now this statement has so much in it, I strongly believe that criticism always hit very hard to one’s self confidences. There are chances that it may strike you so hard you find yourself completely wrecked down from inside. The beauty is this statement has been made by a person who is in business of pulling legs and cracking gags on others.
Anyway, how you take criticism, well there is one very established axiom that you must keep some true critics with you who will help you to point out your mistakes and craft you to perform better. If you ask me – I don’t believe this. Simply because I think you should believe in yourself, in fact you never need any body to tell you about your mistakes, I suppose you always know that which are the things you are doing wrong and which one are right. What say?
You try and listen to your critics, you mould yourself as they says, you find yourself a totally different person, you work hard to mould some of your basic characteristic, you continue listening to them and changing yourself accordingly and then one fine day you find it difficult to live with this fake replica of yours.
I remember when king khan was struggling to make his mark in Bollywood, in his initially movies he kind of stutter while delivering dialogue. People raise questions on his ability to deliver dialogue; I guess he never care about these criticisms about his stuttering dialects because if he really did then his career as a Bollywood actor would have been over. He still dialect his dialogue the same ways and see the same bunch of critics love the way he speaks now. His stuttering dialogue delivery has become his signature.
While surfing this morning I come across to this very interesting post, a blogger request her readers to make comments on a post simply because she wants to prove that she has many readers who read her blog and appreciate her literary genius. But why she was doing that; because one of her friend challenge – if her blog really has any reader. Unfortunately only few comments were made which mean she failed to prove her position before her “critic” friend. This was the last post on her blog until today; I guess she give up blogging. Congratulation to that “Destructive Minds”.
Just listen to your own voice; you are the best judge of your acts. You know your abilities. You are the BOSS.
5 Sites and Services Which Distracts Me from Blogging
September 14, 2008 by Shanker Bakshi

This is biggest time sucker. When ever I visit YouTube for some referral videos for my topic, it always traps me with some really interesting hundreds and thousands of videos available on the site. It’s all starts with playing related videos on the subjects then some more related videos and there you are, lost and drown in the deep pool of videos. I don’t know about you but in my case it always distracts me from my purpose of visiting it.
AIMs like Yahoo, G-Talk MSN
I forget where I read that, but it was very interesting to see, somebody was claiming that its difficult to write a productive great post if your IM chat appellate is ON and some of your best buddies are online. I believe he is right in stating that. One always finds it difficult to write a good post while chatting with friends.
I don’t see Orkut as a great help in promoting my blog. I rather find it a time killing exercise which produces nothing in return for my blog. I love to be there though being a social animal.
It’s been ages since I was there. I don’t find anything there for me or for any other blogger to promote a blog with MySpace. Initially I dig out some possibilities for promotion of SBDC through it but I find it’s not a very effective tool.
I put the twitter bird at the last place; no doubt it sucks my blogging time and energy but also helps me find some visitors to my site. So it’s works both ways. On the first hand a really cool tool to get some readers to my blog and on the other hand distracts from conductive blogging.

So Far So Good and Am Lovin It

last month i completed my one year as blogger, here is a retro right from the beginning.
“Blogging is now a very common term among youth today. As of August 2008, blog search engine Technorati was tracking more than 130 million blogs.”
If you still wonder what a blog is then let me explain what it’s all about.
blogging?
Blog is a specific website where posts are written in sequential order and commonly displayed in reverse sequential order. Many blogs provide commentary or news on a particular subject such as food, politics, or local news; some times it regards as personal online diaries. A typical blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs, web pages, and other media related to its topic. The ability for readers to leave comments in an interactive format is an important part of blogs.
Make money with blogging?
As most of the people do I was also wondering how someone make big money out of blogging. But it’s true; people are making huge money out of it and we have some big bloggers who are earning up to 30,000 Dollars per month only thru blogging. Darren Rowse, Shoemoney and John Chow are to name a few. That’s a pretty cool idea, isn’t it?
How I get into blogging and making money online?
I was searching on Google that “how can someone send money from overseas to his Indian relative real fast”. Surprisingly this search took me to a website which was a blog about how to make money online. I was so impressed to read some of the best article that were written there about how to turn your blog to a money making machine. Immediately I decided that I will start my own blog and try my hands to do the same, I set-up Shanker Bakshi dot Com in august 2007 and rest is history.
Is making money online is the only motive of my blogging?
Never ever think like that, you can not keep on talking on your blog about money all the time, blogging is about expressing your views thought and passion on a particular issue and the money is a peripheral attached to it., it comes along, provided you should hard work to make your blog to that level where your it start earning for you. You need great content written on it. You should have tons and thousand of readers visiting your website and your blogs should rank higher and receive thousand of hits per month for becoming a money making tool. Beside, you need to be a good writer to make your readers come and visit your blog everyday and comments on what ever you express.
How people make money out of blogging?
Now this is very interesting. There is a big possibility that your blog will be a failure if you start it just by the thought that you have to make money out of it. People are doing it to sooth their passion. But Yes you can earn big money out of it, now let me explain how.
It earns money through the three major sources i.e. is private ad sales, paid review and affiliate links.
As we know that Google controls 80% of organic search on internet, now tell me how you use internet, if you need any particular information you just open the Google browser type your searching Keyword and it displays several links related to your search. Now the question is that how it displays the information related to your search results. How it decides to put a particular website related to your search at the top of index page and so on. Actually it is based on algorithm which is called Google PageRank
So to appear higher in Google search results index is depend on the importance of a web page, now the question arise how web pages get importance. The answer is; they get importance when some other web pages link them or refer them for particular information. Google consider this linking as a vote. And this vote decides the PageRank of a particular web page. The other significant factor is that how important that web page is which is giving back link or reference to a particular web page. In other words in order to rank some web page at high PageRank it is necessary that this web page is back link or refer by some other highly ranked or important.
This means that there will be sites which can pay you money to buy back links from High PageRank blog In layman’s language there will be so many sites which want you to write about them on your blog and give backlinks for a particular search keyword and they will pay for you for doing so provided your blog has a High Google PageRank See it’s a simple mathematics. What’s say?
The other sources are private ad sales and by selling affiliates links but to achieve this level your website/blog must have that capability to send several visitor to your advertiser site or register them self with your advertiser sites if he wants them to do so. Again you can do it if your blog gets lots of visitor visiting and seeing those advertisements displayed on your site and off course click those ads and do the action as required by your advertiser.
How was the journey so far?
Initially when I started blogging I was not sure what I am going to write about, so I was posting on several subjects like Bollywood, television reality shows and so many other aspects of the society but now most of my posts are related to teach others bloggers that’s how they can make money by blogging and how they can make their website popular among other by putting their contents on various social media sites, how to gain popularity among various search engines, how to understand difficult term on internet business and how they can optimize their blog content for search engines like Google.
As I said there are 130 Millions blogger so when I started blogging I was at the lowest rank of 130 million but after spending so many months learning the techniques of blogging, various Search engine optimizing techniques; now my blog ranked at Technorati 75000 in the world which is itself a great achievement so far.
The greatest moment came when a renowned blogger from America Margaret ask her readers in her blog that “Is Shanker Bakshi the next John chow”, if you wonder who is this John chow then let me tell you that John chow is the blogger who ranked at No. 15 in the World.
Whom I owe my little sucecess ?
I am married and blessed with a boy child named Aditya who is three years old now. My wife shivani don’t know much about my blogging but she always support me. She knows that my dream is to achieve much higher rank in the world which is possible only with her support.
About dot Com Guru Status
Now this is something very interesting, I admire John Chow a lot and try imitate him so when he refer himself a “dot Com Mogul” I proclaim myself “dot Com Guru”. I love to see when people refer my name as “dot Com Guru”.
What I was doing before blogging?
I did anchoring for feature films and television shows. I’ve been voiceover talent for documentaries, interactive media, and audio books. Voiceovers for station imaging & station promos, movie trailers. I enjoy opening my mouth for others, worked as a private producer and a Radio Jockey for local Chandigarh FM 103.1, But after trying my hands on so many arts now I decided that the blogging is the field where I have to claim my stake.
And I am sure one day I will achieve it.

WordPress 2.6.2 Mandatory Upgrade for blogs with open registration
September 9, 2008 by Shanker Bakshi

If you allow your reader for open registration on your blog then you must upgrade your blog to WordPress 2.6.2. From security point of view it’s mandatory to upgrade WP to next level Stefan Esser recently warned developers of the dangers of SQL Column Truncation and the weakness of mt_rand().
With open registration enabled, it is possible in WordPress versions 2.6.1 and earlier to craft a username such that it will allow resetting another user’s password to a randomly generated password. The randomly generated password is not disclosed to the attacker, so this problem by itself is annoying but not a security exploit. However, this attack coupled with a weakness in the random number seeding in mt_rand() could be used to predict the randomly generated password.
Everything Has Been Said And Done – What New You Wanna Write Now?

She thinks she has a very interesting topic to write about, She start writing it, out of curiosity she Google the internet to find out is there article written previously on that subject, it goes again, Google returns with 1 million pages written on that specific subject.
There are chances that what you are planning to write has been previously said. It happens with all of us. What we writes is already inked on the internet or somewhere else. So what one should do, should we stop writing or should we stop thinking? The answer is No. lets find out why.
Some time its not important what you says but its very important how you say it
Different people has different opinion on same subjects, they always has a different versions of looking at things. You will all agree on that point that there are so many examples where people have re-attempted the things which have been already done.
Presentation matters
How you present your “saying’ is also very important. Some time presentation or work which already been done by someone else give it all-together a fresh look and feel provided you know the art of presenting things beautiful.
What’s your take on the subject
If people love your writing then they sure be very keen to know about your aspect or your take on a particular subjects. Various politicians, statesmen, celebrities often asked about their view on any particular subject. People often ask how you see a given situation. That’s why there are so many bloggers around us writing about blogging and development but you always interested to know how Darren explain this subject. You can Google the term hundred times to know your answer then why you are very much keen to get the answer from Darren, just because you love to see what’s his take on that particular issue.
Are you a smart Copy Cat
Smart people call it an inspiration. You can do wonder if you can do the job with more efficiency and smartness which somebody else is doing. You can make it look like your own thing. Tell me what is the need of having Plurk, identi.ca, Jaiku and Pownce when you already have “twitter”. They serve the same purpose of social media. It is just because they are trying to copy the concept and working on what better can be done with the twitting idea.
Speak it at loud
If somebody has a better opinion but nobody is listening to his call then do one thing give it your own voice provided you have audience around you. I guess you understand what I am trying to point out here. It’s all about reaching out to the public. It is just like if you have a great business idea share it with a business man and then see he will then turn it into 24 carat gold opportunity. Remember one thing there are diamond around us, you need an eye to find them for your purpose. Internet may be filled with several articles like you have written but people love to read it through you. You got it.
Remix it out
I will tell you a interesting story about a music composer Harry Anand of India. he is a young guy , now known throughout India as king of remixes, in year 2001 he remixed a song kanta laga. It was a big hit in India. What he did is that he took this very old song from a very old unknown flop Bollywood movie 1972 and remixed it with all his knowledge of techno digital music with all his abilities but many people still believe that its his own creation and they don’t believe any such song ever exist.
What am trying to say here is that there may be various article written on the subject you hold in hand but you can still create magic with your unique style and can add extra spice to already cooked food. Its like serving some old wine in new bottle .
So guys please don’t google this article , you may found thousand of similer article like this. All you have to do is to have self belief and that extra sharp edge pen and that ability get your readers hooked on to your words.

One Big Thing That Holds You Back From Blogging
September 6, 2008 by Shanker Bakshi

I heard this morning someone very intellectual was saying that one should fix that one big thing which holds you to compete with others. Right said brother. I link this whole conversation to blogging. Tell me which is the one big thing which holds you back from blogging.
Once I quoted somewhere on this blog that blogging is not really as sensational as its seems . I believe there are so many tough string attached to blogging. You have to tune every string to compose your rhythm divine.
Okay I guess you understand what I am asking you guys, which are the most difficult thing you find in blogging which holds you back to compete with other bloggers. Let me guess what going on in your mind.
Writer’s Block.
You wonder how so many bloggers write a new post everyday but you find it difficult to write even at alternate days. Some time you stuck up with writer’s block, you start a blog write good back o back great post and suddenly find there is nothing left to say about.
Technicalities
Or you think blogging is too much a tech geek job, you find it difficult to upgrade your blog on time or failed to do so on many occasions. You find it difficult to fight with themes, layouts, CSS and then give up.
Great Article but No Readers
You may be a good writer but to be a successful blogger you must learn the art of mastering Google and other social media sites to send visitors to your blog. Is this thing make you uncomfortable to blog further and hold you back. Is it the most difficult task of blogging.
Mystification about the niche of your blog
One thing which can hold you back may be that you always get confused on which subject you should fashion your blog. On which subjects you are comfortable to write about.
I tell you a story about my friend, he started blogging a couple of months back, everything was going fine, he really wrote some great posts but after some seven or eight odd posts he find it difficult to continue writing on the same subject. When ever he think to write a new post he feel that it will not fit in the blog niche; Guess what, he open a new blog every time he plan to writ a new blog and see he now has some twelve blogs with twenty post posts. With this speed he will be soon holding tons of blogs spreading tons of scraps everywhere.
Okay these were few things which can force you or may hold you back from blogging to beat your competitors.
This post is incomplete, give your inputs in comments and complete it by telling which are the big things which hold back one to blog and compete.

Get ready for the whole new web browsing experience with Google Chrome. Internet’s big boys Google now come up with their own internet Browser chrome.
I don’t remember when did last time I hit that ugly blue “e” of Microsoft internet explorer. After setting up Mozilla Firefox the first thing I did is to remove internet explorer shortcut from my desktop icon list
Now its time to say goodbye to both IE and Firefox. Chrome is from Google and I love every product being introduce by Google. I simply Looooove Goooogle.
Google Chrome is an open source web browser developed by Google. The open source project behind Google Chrome is known as Chromium. A beta version for Microsoft Windows was released on 2 September 2008 in 43 languages. Mac OS X and Linux versions are under development and are scheduled to be released after the Windows version.
“You actually spend more time in your browser than you do in your car”
- Brian Rakowski, Group Product Manager Google Chrome
This is very true. There were developments around web 2.0 but the way we were browsing these advancement was too conventional and underdeveloped. Internet Browser Chrome – if it is from Google it will be the best as Google has put into it one complete year for testing and trails, design and developments. Chrome introduces various features that promise to make Web browsing faster, more secure and stable.
The main User Interface includes back, forward, refresh, bookmark, go and cancel option is similar to Safari, while the settings location is similar to Internet Explorer 7/8. The minimize, maximize and close window buttons are based on Windows Vista
So if you are thinking what I am thinking then – Send the Firefox and ugly Blue “e” into recycle bin and
SBDC in Google’s Chrome
