by Shanker Bakshi on May 18, 2009

There is a lot of buzz in blogsphere about membership sites these days; it seems membership sites are the only way left to make huge money. I know some of you guys out there have already join Yaro Starak’s Membership Site Mastermind program, but what about those who can’t afford this course but still want to create their very own membership site and then wish to make a big big money out of it.

I’m here to help you. I will give you some idea about how you can create a premium membership site with your favorite blogging platform WordPress.

What is a Premium Membership Site?

A premium membership site is one where visitors pay either a subscription or one-off fee to access special members-only content. You must have experience this sometimes where you have been refused to have access certain area or contents of a website as you are not the paid member.  Well this is exactly a membership site where you charged to access “members only” content. :-)

How to create a Membership Site using WordPress?

WordPress can be used to build a premium membership site. For this you need to use couple of WordPress Plugin made specially to create paid membership functionality.

[1] WP-MEMBER

WP-MEMBER is a premium WordPress Plugin. It is basically formed to create unlimited membership levels and select which post, page and category can be viewed by each membership level. Select one or multiple membership levels per post, page & category and WP-MEMBER will automatically manage users’ subscriptions, payments and access rights.

After the next payment date, the user will attempt to login and they will be taken to PayPal to process their next payment.

There are some more features EasyPayPal WordPress Plugin has like:

Shanker do you need all three of the plugins or one of the three? I have been looking at the idea of a members only section and this is a really good post!

A very good post (and more over well thought topic) Shanker. Though, I wouldn’t make my content for subscribers, I am sure there are pleanty of sites/blogs out there that could actually charge for their premium content.
