Ha has served as the UN Under-Secretary General to Kofi Annan. He was the official candidate of India for the office of United Nations Secretary-General and came second out of seven official candidates in the race.He is an author, journalist, human-rights advocate, humanitarian and adviser and fellow of various institutions. He is now a member of Indian Parliament and you can now follow him on Twitter

He is the one among those couple of MPs who knows what twitter is among 543 newly elected members of Parliament. I’m talking about Shashi Tharoor, MP from the Trivandrum constituency in Kerala. Fifteenth Lok Shabha (Indian Parliament) is not the youngest so far, it has only 36 members between ages of 30-40 but look at this figure; 68 members are between ages of 70-80.

Internet Social media sites played a vital role in Barak Obama’s victory; there is no doubt about it. Inspired by that Indian politician spend a big amount of their election campaign on Internet advertising, you remember that Advani for PM ad flashing all over internet space in India.  I have seen some contestants writing blogs before election to grab Indian youth attention; don’t know whether they would carry their blogging thing after winning elections.

Rahul Gandhi Also uses Twitter and was updating it while he was working hard campaigning for victories Indian National Congress.

Internet and India both are definitely changing. What say?

What I like is the fact that twitter can be used by politicians to share what is happening with their voters, and get feedback about the public opinion on certain matters too. The bigger the twitter following, the more accurate this data would be, putting traditional polls in trouble!

Gandhi was traveling on one of India’s Shatabdi Express trains — fully air-conditioned, speedy trains preferred mostly by India’s wealthy and upper-class travelers.
