Playing With Emotions

Marriage and Beyond

This morning I got one message from my friend Jennie, she was in trouble, her blog was down from last couple of days, initially she felt it was just a glitch but it was worse than she was thinking, her web host EzNet-Hosting.com close down everything and run away draining down all databases.

She started this blog “Marriage and beyond” in 2005, wrote close to 1,400 articles and her blog witnessed every big occasion of her life, be full of deep emotions, sentiments and passion. It was like a big shock to her.

She did some digging about the host and found through whois that the domain was transferred to a new owner, she ask me if I can do something about it.

When I check up I found that this new owner is a Chennai based Indian guy , after many tries I was able to talked to this guy over phone, I was can’t believe what he told me, he said he has won this domain EzNet-Hosting.com in a contest. I felt surprised to hear this. I asked if he could give me further detail how he got this domain, he then referred me to the following thread at digital point forum.

Just have a look at it how shamelessly this web host is offering a domain on which he already sold hosting spaces to many blog publishers and developers just to change the ownership and parting all responsibilities on somebody else shoulder. I mean this is something ridiculous, how someone could do this, selling web spaces and then run off ditching many clients in between.

Jennie somehow manages to restart her blog again but lost so much in recollecting things again, you can read her post on this hosting disaster HERE.

Stand on the Shoulder of Giants

I really don’t understand when it comes to web hosting why people chooses a unknown web host instead of a big and renowned web hosting service provider. It always very safe to host your WordPress blog with some hosting giants, WordPress also recommends hosting provider like BlueHost, DreamHost, and GoDaddy. I advise you – if you are with some “CHEAP” web hosting company of closet corner than change it to any of the webhost suggested.

WordPress backup Plugin

Make sure to take your database backup from time to time. My friend Austin Matzko has solution for your all database back-up problems. He has made wonderful WordPress Data Back-Up Plugin which creates database everyday and sends it to your provided e-mail address. This is a must install Plugin, in case anything bad happened to your blog this will save you getting insane.

Also Backup your Image folder

You WordPress Images are hardcoded in your post pointing to a WP content folder which contains your post images. I advise you to back-up this folder also from time to time.

See if you could extend any HELP

I have explained above what had happened to Jennie’s blog, I make an appeal here if you have any suggestion or if you wish to help her in getting her database back from his runaway HOST you can do so by leaving your comment below. I or Jennie will contact you.

I am writing this post on the basis of information provided by aggrieved blogger Jennie and on my own prima Facie findings. If you think information provided in the post above are untrue or are different from what have been stated above I invite to make clear your point by  writing to me at the e-mail address given on contact page. This is the reason why I don’t like to use those unnamed ones.

This is very sad, I’m sure she must feel cheated – Better to stick with the brand names! I can imagine the amount of trauma she must be going thru!

That’s so unfair. The nerve of that first owner to do that. I hope it wont happen to me and to anyone else. Lesson learned: always have a backup and don’t trust “the unnamed” ones

Shanker, this is totally a catastrophe for a website/blog owner, that’s why I always hosted my websites (I meant my other websites) with the Godaddy, although their hosting package is a little bit pricey, but it’s much safer than hosting it on the cheap and unbranded hosting providers!

Shanker, I just received your email and I am so hopeful! You are such an angel! Thank you for getting out of your way to do everything you did about this issue. We really really appreciate everything that you have been doing to help us. I know we can never thank you enough.

If anything like this happens to anyone, it is really beyond devastating. My husband has been with EzNet for almost a year until it closed down and the service was really impeccable until May of this year. There was no way we would have thought it was a scam or anything. Dale Morgan was very professional in his proceedings. Now I have found out that he is really this dirty old man, with his face all over the internet. My friend who was his victim also investigated and learned several things about him. He is one professional scammer.

My husband has an unlimited hosting with Hostgator, for some reason we just had four of our sites stuck with eznet which is very very unfortunate. He has majority of his sites hosted with Hostgator save for our 4 sites. Three of which were not backed up. I know that is really silly to have been overlooked.

We’re really just hoping to get the databases of our sites. What on earth would that cold blooded scammer, Dale Morgan would do with it anyway, right. Whew! Unless he lives to be satisfied with the misery of others. But then again, I happen to believe that nothing is impossible with God. He has been on our side right from the start. Thank you for allowing yourself to be His channel for us to get through this. God bless you more, Shanker Bakshi!

Very disappointed to see a hosting company would do something like this. I wonder how many customers they had. Even if they had one, two, or ten I am sure one of the hosting companies would have been happy to purchase the client and convert them over.

Either case, it gives companies like mine (AvekHost.com) a bad name. To assist with anyone have problems with other web hosting companies we would like to offer you 3 months free web hosting to help recover from something like this. If you would like to take advantage of this offer please contact us at sales @ avekhost.com.

That is just wrong! Beware of where and who you host with, as it can lead to huge tears down the road, as this example clearly illustrates. The WP back-up plugin is also a great idea as a data safeguard. Imagine trying to restore 1,500 blog posts / articles.
