Do you think Google Ruins Creativity?

No Offence Google, but you will agree with me that this statement is true to some extent.

People start blogging and write what they like to express, Blogging is a platform where anyone can convey his views and thoughts on any subject and share it with the world. People who never get any opportunity to be heard can now beautifully communicate their opinion through blogging. I consider it as one of the form of art and yes it needs lot of creativity and visualization.

Then on one fine day someone visit your blog and comment “Hey buddy your blog is not very SEO friendly”

You ask yourself “now what the hell this SEO is?’ and then they explain you “ Brother you need to write in such a way that google index your blog posts in their Search Engine Result Page [SERP] better, you should stuff your article with some Keyword that people are searching  for”

Slowly and very firmly you start believing that google is your GOD. You start writing your articles in more Google Friendly ways, you start stuffing your post with lot of KEYWORDS that people out there are searching in google. You try to find out what people are hunting right now on internet and frame your posts around those subjects. As a Result you notice that you are now doing better in google and there is surely an increase in your visitor’s Traffic. And then you do everything to PLEASE google.

But somehow somewhere it hampers your creative writing.

You start your blog for your own pleasure and writing what you always love to but one day you realize that you are writing for google.

Share your opinion “Are you still writing for your own pleasure or to do better in Google?”

I love to see your reaction on this.

    Hi Shanker,

Long time not been in your blog, hope this will change and I have planned to visit more often.

BTW, writing for Google only it make feel like some kind of traitor, my blog it is made for readers, I will not lie that I would love to have lots of visitors from Google too but I think writing for Google can only be justified if it is a niche or micro niche site but not for your main site.

    Shanker, Hi!
Without commercial intentions, you are free to write anyway you want. You don’t have to be friendly to anyone. But, if you mean to earn from it, you would need to be a smart writer, who looks at it as a challenge rather than a stumbling block.
Online or offline, to make a living on wrting, you would need to face it & deal with it successfully.
Sorry, dude! It ain’t the news you wanted to hear. But I guess, we all need to learn that!

I write for both and i don’t think when you are writing with also google into perceptive.

It is no use if you write and you don’t get visitors. if you have written something and want to show it to the world audience then you need to get visitors and for that you have to try to write in such a way that you are in SERP.

You know what? When I first saw it, I thought it was cute. Now that I see the implications of what Google is doing, its hard not to be a little unhappy about it.

I hope this isn’t a trend, ads in Street View.

I never blog for google. I have an almost dead blog. But I do not mind. i do not have any intention to please google. Whatever catches my fancy I try to write it. But I am a medical doctor doing my internship in a very busy hospital. I really do not have any time to write a good composed post. So after some of the idiotic posts that I have written in my blog, I have stopped writing more rubbish. My last post was on 15th August. See how jurassic I am.
any ways Thanks for the intriguing question.

You have a point. Almost all bloggers are too much concerned about SEO that they forget that their readers are not Google crawlers but human readers and the site has to be human-reader-friendly.

Coincidentally, I wrote an article on keyword density yesterday. Search engines provide a service that is necessary for us and I believe Google is doing a great job of minimizing the effect of “tricks”. True, SEO requires work but I’m definitely not a fan of keyword stuffing.

Amazing! this is very true. Google is now controlling almost all of the corners of the blogging world.

We should all face it, Google is the biggest player in the internet and without it we can’t be seen in the world. Let’s just bear with it, anyways we are just one of the online money makers and thanks to Google they made it possible.

I’m writing for my own and for others to read. To combine Google is not bad as long as your posts don’t go beyond what you really want to convey. Sometimes it’s hard to determine which keywords that please Google so I don’t mind so much about this.

Writing purely with Google (and the other search engines…) in mind is not the ticket to ultimate success imo. Write from your heart and try to truly connect with your audience, and the rest will naturally follow. Using Google to determine which topics are hot at present, and targeting those, is a good plan though, as writing about obscure things nobody searches for is also rather silly.

I don’t blog to regular readers anymore, so I must say I write for Google rather than readers. With that said however, I do agree that because people want to get more SE traffic, they tend to change their writing styles.

I personally write for Google and my readers. Since I’m focusing on home business reviews, I get ranked very well in Google for many product related keywords and I always try to write honest reviews, so that my readers are getting real information about these products.

With that I can say, that I’m writing for both, Google and my readers.
