It’s a good news for Indian Twitter Users, Bharti Airtel Limited, India Largest Telecom brand has now partner with Twitter, Airtel Mobile users can now update tweet via SMS right from there Airtel Mobile Phones. I am on Bharti Airtel Network so I am that they give me one more option to be in touch with my 10k twitter followers.

Twitter Founder Biz confirmed it on Twitter Blog:

i personally think its just stupid because thers no way u can get talk to celebs because alot of celebs only follow celebs.(not that twitter is stupid jsut if your using it to communicate with celebs twitter is pointless)

This is a nice initiative from Twitter though launching at Diwali time in India does not make much sense as most of telecom giant will be increasing the SMS rate for 3 days in Diwali.

I knew it would only be a matter of time before the major cellular operators started partnering wityh twitter. Expect to see much more of this, all round the world. Just one question – What prevents people from simply doing their twitter busines via GPRS or 3G. Surely that will kill the cost per twitter charge?
