This is an open letter to all these three giants of India telecommunication scene. Mr. Anil Ambani of Reliance Communication, Mr. Ratan Tata of Tata Indicom and Mr. Sunil Mittal of Bharti Airtel Limited.

I request you guys to take The Internet broadband in India to the next level now and make sure it comes within the reach of one and all. Stop sucking our blood for giving a broadband speed of mare 1 Mbps.

I am not graduated from Howard ( Read Harvard University) so I can’t understand your cleverly designed tariff plan. I know as per the definition of any TRAI any connection which is above 256 Kbps speed is called a Broadband connection in India (did I heard someone saying shame shame shame !!!).

Oh come on now, you know what the average internet connection speed is in all other fast growing countries. Please stop charging our bill on Time bases or usages bases, give us some freedom to play around the amazing World Wide Web.

Please do something about it and Gimme hope JoAnna before the morning come.

Sad and In Deep Pain – I Lost My Mentor, My Inspiration

shanker-and-michael

The man whom I worship like god, the man who always been an inspiration for me to do good in life and make efforts to achieve my dreams, I grow listening to his music , the man who was like a father to me , just like my brother, my mentor and my guide Michael Jackson is no more.

I wake up this morning and stunned to hear this news, black Friday, I’m still not in a position to believe that he has gone. And yes in some way it’s true I feel with his music legacy he will be with us all the time.

As I told you I’m very big fan of Michael Jackson, when I was in college I used to sign his songs a lot and try to imitate his unique dancing style. I still remember when once I performed one of his songs and steal the show in college talent show. His songs always fill you with great energy. When he was in India in 1996, there were these final university exam of mine were going on, I missed the big opportunity to watch his live show. Thinking at that time that there will be more such events will come in future do not knowing that this is his first and last visit to my country. And I will never ever get a chance to see him.

I remember when I lost someone very close to me a few years back; I tune in to one of his song “gone to Soon” and cried all the night. Some time I am confused whether he is a good dancer or a better singer or a great composure or a great poet or a great actor. Actually he was a complete package of entertainment, liveliness and performance.

My Four Year son aditya Sings his songs

When I got married to shivani and have this cute little baby named Aditya I’m very surprise to see that this four year little boy prefer to listen to his song than of anyone else. Heredity, you can see in one of the YouTube video here how my little cute son is dancing on Michael Jackson’s song ‘don’t care about us’.

I started this blog on his birthday

And this not a co-incidence, he always been an inspiration to me, so when I decided to start blogging I started it on his birthday 29th August.

Larger than life

Whatever Michael did its always larger than life, his “Doing Big” attitude always encourages you to brace yourself and do good in life, despite the fact that am  not from a very financially strong background I achieved a lot in life and proudly can say that a big part of it is belong to this attitude of doing BIG in life which I borrow from the king of pop Michael Jackson, that’s why I call him my mentor, you can’t imagine how much pain I am going through since I heard this news of his death. I never met him in life but I have learned a hundred and thousand of things from the man.

Receiving phone calls from my family and friends on his sad demise

My brother and other family members knows that how much I love his music and how much I admire him, they are calling me consolidate me. I am feeling like I have just lost someone very close to my heart. The vacuum is big and deep, I don’t know how I would come up from this reconcile this sorrow.

RIP Michael Jackson

I am like broken and shattered inside, can’t pour more word here, leaving you with one of my favorite song and some picture of the legend.

I will pour in some more stuff about him all through next month.

Loss is deep, I pray Jujus for his soul to rest in Peace.

It’s good to see I am now followed by 5000 people of twitter. This Sunday when @GIFT4Tw8 Clicked on my “follow” button probably he did not know that he was my 5000th Twitter follower. It’s cool; great to see when you tweet something and it appears on twitter’s 5000 user’s screen. It’s not easy to get as many followers for me until I learn to handle twitter through some useful lethal tools to do tweeting in great style. Let me share with you how I tweet.

Twitter Follower: You Scratch my back and I’ll Scratch yours

When someone follows you on twitter he/she expects you to follow him/her back, it’s as simple as that. People with equal numbers of followers and people followed by are the once who preferably followed by more people. My Guru John Chow has come up with a new startup called TwitterFollower.com. You can use it for mass unfollow people whom you are following and who are not actually following you back.

TweetDeck

I use TweetDeck for tweeting. It’s a powerful tweeter application designed in adobe AIR. This made my tweeting experience really easy and handy.

Twitter Page Background.

I have designed my twitter background. I think this helps me get more followers. Your twitter page background must look impressive, if someone land on my twitter page he immediately click that ’Follow’ button and moreover he also visit to my blog through that link given at the top right of Twitter page. I have designed my Twitter background by myself but if you wish you could find some free resource where you can get your twitter background deigned.

Tweetlater

This Twitter Tools has so many features like posting a direct message immediately when someone follows you. Schedule tweets and keep your Twitter stream ticking over with new tweets even when you’re not in front of your computer. Publish tweets when your international followers are online and you’re asleep.

What’s your Twitter Story?

Share your experience with twitter in comments section below. Thanks for following me.

What’s Your Business’s most Valuable Asset?

June 12, 2009 by Shanker Bakshi

If you ask me for my business, I will say e-mail and RSS Subscribers base. For a blog like this nothing could be more valuable then having a huge rss subscriber base. You can always count on your RSS readers. It does not matter if they do not visit your blog and read it only through e-mail of through RSS reader’s software/client but I always value a RSS reader. The bigger your RSS Subscriber list is the more worthy your blog would be. As they say money is in the list.

It used to be that a business’s value was measured by its “tangible assets”, now “intangible assets” are usually even more valuable. Tangible assets are like real estate, your car, the cash in your bank, investments, your equipment, etc.  They are considered things that you can sell if need be and turn into hard cash. But now, the most valuable asset that any practice, or business for that matter, has is their contact database.

For example, just yesterday I read that Facebook was valued at $10 billion.  And the value comes from Facebook’s subscriber database and all their Joint Venture Relationships.  You know all those fun and weird applications that are on facebook.  Well those are all created by joint venture partners of Facebook.  And Facebook profits whenever someone uses those. The point that I really want to to over-stress is this:

[1] Asset Is Your Client Database.

[2] Asset Is Your Business Partner Database.

This is something that cannot be emphasized enough.  Usually the first thing we do when we work with our coaching client is evaluate how they are communicating and strengthening their relationship with their client list.  And the second thing that is so valuable to assess is how your business contacts and colleagues can work together to get more success.

Here are a few ways that you can stay in touch with your client database to help keep your practice at top of mind:

  • Email newsletter
  • Direct mail newsletter
  • Birthday cards
  • Christmas cards
  • Phone calls
  • Email updates

Last week Silicon Valley lost its most cherished Gem, This blog do not suppose to report Silicon Valley news but this is something shocking and heart breaking. So I think I must give tribute from me and my readers to the great soul Rajeev Motwani.

Rajeev Motwani passed away on 5th June in his pool in the backyard in his Atherton home. He was a professor of Computer Science at Stanford University whose research focused on theoretical computer science.

He was an early advisor and supporter of companies including Google and PayPal, and a special advisor to Sequoia Capital. He was a winner of the Gödel Prize in 2001.

Rajeev Motwani was well-known for his mentoring of Google co-founders Larry Paige and Sergey Brin.

Remembering his mentor Rajeev Motwani Sergey Brin wrote on his blog named TOO

Of all the faculty at Stanford, it is with Rajeev that I have stayed the closest and I will miss him dearly. Yet his legacy and personality live on in the students, projects, and companies he has touched. Today, whenever you use a piece of technology, there is a good chance a little bit of Rajeev Motwani is behind it.

  • He was an early advisor and supporter of Google and Paypal.
  • He was a winner of the Gödel Prize in 2001.
  • He was one of the co-authors with Larry Page and Sergey Brin, and Terry Winograd of an influential early paper on the PageRank algorithm, the basis for Google’s search techniques.
  • He also co-authored another seminal search paper What Can You Do With A Web In Your Pocket with those same authors.
  • He was one of the youngest professors at Stanford University.

A very supportive and kind person at heart Rajeev was a luminary in many academic disciplines.

Please post a comment if you wish to tribute legendary Rajeev’s extraordinary life and legacy.

Gurus -Do They Really Selling Secrets of Success?

Well as they say “Give a man a fish and he’ll eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he’ll steal your fish” All these big Internet Marketing and Blogging Gurus are selling their marketing skills, they claims they are revealing what they have learned through out their entire life, they claims they are sharing the inside secrets.

My question is dose they really shares secret of their success?” If someone promises you that if you join his course he will teach you how he has build an empire and how he has made a huge ton of money, Dose he really teaches you inside secrets? Well who want to share his Trade Secrets? Is there really anybody? off course not, they are not fool, they are gurus, I’m also not saying that you are a fool who spend so much of money for joining these promising course, the reason is If they will not share the complete secret still at least they will show you a path through which you can sense where to head to reach to that success.

You can really learn a lot if not the whole. There no one in this world who will tell you the complete story about how he has made the entire empire how he succeeded in Internet affiliate marketing or in blogging for that matter. ShoeMoney himself confirm this in his latest 12 weeks Internet marketing course. He says:-

“Affiliate marketing is a lone wolf career.  Contrary to public belief, there is no website that is going to take your hand and walk you through it.  No forum, no blog, nothing.”

No body dares to share these well earned secrets

Have you earned it?

you can not become a super affiliate or a super blogger by just joining a blog, master mind course, but surely this will help you understand how these people has pass through and made it happened and you can also sense a bit how long and how hard these guys has done to establish themselves as a marketing guru or blogging god.

You see what you want to see

And what you learn is also what you want to learn, sounds crazy, in a class if 200 students join a course of blogging or affiliate marketing dose not guarantee that each one of those 200 students will rule the affiliate marketing world or blogging world next following years. Only those will succeed who have that extra zeal, a passion and ability to execute what they learned. You can be a good learner but you also need to be a good executor. You must also learn the art of executing your learning.

Whether you should join these courses by Bog Gurus?

Definitely yes, it will help you to get first hand experience to learn from the master. They will not teach you all inside secrets of their success but by joining these courses it will definitely motivate you to reach at a certain level in your niche. Hope you will learn and then earn hell lot of money from teaching of these big Gurus.

Over to you

Tell me what you think about it? When someone ask you to join his course and he will show you up how he made huge money, what exactly he means. Dose he really tell you the whole story or it’s a marketing game and nothing else?

Back to the Basics

Whenever someone come across to my blogging thing or whenever I tell someone that I am a blogger and write a make money online blog, then surprisingly a question mark immediately appears on their faces, hands goes up and a little shout “what the hell blogging is, I still don’t know what you are doing man”.  Ha Ha, Blogging is still not very popular on India. The next important question they ask to me is “are you making money out of it?’. Actually in India we believe in doing everything for money, and if it isn’t for money we Indian consider it as waste of time.

So I’m trying to explain here what blogging is and how we make money from our blogs. It’s a efforts to introduce blogging and making money from blogging to a newbie and a journey back to the basic for those who are already blogging and making money out it.

What is a blog?

A blog is a type of website, usually maintained by an individual with regular entries called blog posts consist of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video. Entries are commonly displayed in reverse-chronological order.

It means:

  • A blog is a specific website
  • These are organize by writing articles called blog posts
  • Blogs usually maintained by Individual persons
  • Posts are displayed in reverse chronological order i.e. most recent post at the top.
  • Each blog posts can become a discussion to comments left by its readers

From year 2003 more then 113 millions blogs have been created worldwide. The big deal about blogs is that each individual works as a news media source, express his or her opinion which is read by a high number of a small community.  Its now has become a powerful tool to convey your voice and reach a large audience. Most blog readers are other bloggers of similar interest who reads, comments and links each others blogs. A celebratory blogger can now interact with his/her fans through a blog.

A typical blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs, web pages, and other media related to its topic. The ability for readers to leave comments in an interactive format is an important feature of blogs.

How to start a blog?

[1] You can start your own blog for free as there are so many websites which provides you space to create and maintain your very own blog. There is not much of technical or web designing skill required for creating and maintaining a free blog with these sites.  Two most popular website which offer free blogging space are:

Blogger.com

WordPress.com

[2] If you decide to blog but don’t want to use free blog services like blogger.com or WordPress.com then you can setup your blog on a remote host by buying web space form any hosting company, install a blogging software available at WordPress.org, Joomla, Drupal, etc  and start blogging. No doubt you need some technical skill to install and setup blogs on a self hosted space. The basic difference between a self hosted blog and a free blogs are:

  • If you chosen a free service then your blog URL would be something like www.yourblog.wordpress.com or www.yourblog.blogspot.com whereas in self hosted blog you can buy any domain of your choice. Like this blog is setup on a self hosted space using WordPress blogging software.
  • In a free blogging site you probably not have much control over designing and look of your blog and would have to choose your design from free generic theme or templates available by free blogging service. While in a self hosted blog you can adopt various themes and design to give unique look to your blog.
  • If you are blogging to make it a business then free blogging sites will not help you a lot as you would not have much control over selling ad space and monetizing your blog.

How to make money from blogging?

Now the second question how bloggers make money from blogging. But First I want to make it clear that there are various ways you can make money from “internet” but I’m giving you only means to make money from blogging.

[2] Google AdSense

This is the most popular and easy way to make money from blogging. You just need to register with google AdSense program, submit your blog to google for approval and then if they approve your blog for AdSense program then you need to paste Google AdSense codes at space where you want to show Google AdSense ads. Google AdSense display targeted Google ads on your website’s content pages and earn from valid clicks or impressions. AdSense gives you access to Google’s vast network of advertisers, so you can show ads that are suited to your audience’s interests. But do remember before submitting your blog to google for their AdSense Program you must fill in your blog with 20 to 25 articles or blog post on your subjects.

After that you need to optimize your blog for google search engine, gain high page rank and increase visitors from organic search.

Sign Up for google AdSense

[2] Selling Private ads on your blog

Selling ads on your blog is not easy, for this your blog must receive high traffic, high readership. You can sell ads on your blog in various formats. Selling ads on a blog which is on a free blogging platform like blogger.com or WordPress.com is hard. Whereas a blog on self hosted space can place and market private ads more easily.

Read this post for further help.

[3] Paid Review

If your blog has a high page rank then you can submit it to various sites which offer paid reviews. To rank high in google index various products and service sites needs bloggers to write reviews about their products or services and pay high amount in return. This is a great way to earn a little extra money from blogging.

I’m giving you some sites where you can register your blog for writing paid reviews.

[4] Selling Affiliate Products or services

You can sign up with various affiliate networks, a small list of recommended affiliate network given below, can opt to market an affiliate products related to your blog niche and promote it by writing reviews, if someone click on those affiliate link and purchase the product or services then you get paid a handsome commission by affiliate ad network. Again the condition is that your blog must have at least 1000 or more unique visitor per day then only affiliate marketing through blogging can be effective otherwise people choose to use e-mailing system to earn through affiliate marketing.

Hope this article will help newbie to understand what blogging is and how bloggers make money from it. If you still need any clarification or have opinion about any thing explained above and you are more then welcome to comment below.
