FTC to Regulate Blogging

October 10, 2009 by Shanker Bakshi

Let me share this with you and I think it will help you to understand your Rights and Limitations as blogger. Blogging which up to now seems to be uncontrolled free medium of expressing views is now to be regulated by the FTC [ Federal Trade Commission]

The Federal Trade Commission will try to regulate blogging for the first time, requiring writers on the Web to clearly disclose any freebies or payments they get from companies for reviewing their products.

The FTC approves the final Web guidelines, which had been expected. Violating the rules, which take effect Dec. 1, 2009 could bring fines up to $11,000 per violation. Bloggers or advertisers also could face injunctions and be ordered to reimburse consumers for financial losses stemming from inappropriate product reviews.

FTC recently crake down fake blogs and to me it seems they want more fair reviews of products and services which means paid reviews are not a better option for bloggers now.

Read this article here for better understanding of the new law and how they will affect you.

Cartoon Yourself

I come across while browsing internet to this very super cool image morphing application by some Japanese guy, you can cartoon yourself in seconds, and it automatically deducts your face in image and converts a sort-of-living, sort-of-3D face. The Face becomes animated, and it will react to your mouse movements and clicks.

To get your animated face all you need to do is to upload your portrait-style image and there you are, you can cartoon yourself in many forms of faces given out there. This is a good application tool for all those who don’t have much understanding in Photoshop.

The site is in Japanese language so I will try to tell you how to go about it;

  1. Click on “Change”
  2. Upload any Jpg Image; the image should not be of more than 5 Mb.
  3. You cannot upload an image with goggles, glasses put on eyes.
  4. It takes some time to deduct your face in the image so patience is virtue my friend.
  5. Now head over and click here cartoon yourself

I use this application to morph or cartoon my son Aditya’s photograph.

Here are morphed imaged of my Son Aditya

Tell me which one of these you like the most.

It looks cool to me, but even I haven’t tried my hands on 7 heavens yet. Beta Download still available for download for next few days. If you are downloading it from India you can download 32-bit version in Hindi language.

Minimum recommended specs call for:

  • 1 GHz 32-bit or 64-bit processor
  • 1 GB of system memory
  • 16 GB of available disk space
  • Support for DirectX 9 graphics with 128 MB memory

Some of the cool features that Windows Seven has:

The New Taskbar: Application icons can be “docked” in this taskbar. You can drag-and-drop application icons to this area for one-click access besides running apps that will appear on taskbar as well.

Jump Lists is a new feature that groups related tasks surrounding an application.

Your Windows Sidebar Gadgets can now be placed anywhere, not just on the sidebar

But eagerly waiting for that Touch Screen experience,

Downloaded Window 7 Beta

share some more cool features that you like in comment below.

EPIC FU New Face Of Television Shows

Once John chow said “video will be the new face of internet”. Yes I agree on that, but I want to know your take on this “what will be the new face of television”, will it be the Internet TV?  There are so many channels, web Shows and internet TV shows currently available, but one big show which catches my attention is EPIC FU

Created by Zadi Diaz and Steve Woolf, EPIC FU is all about the things that make us geek out — the coolest art, tech, and music from the online and offline world. The new popular culture is about the influence of web culture on the mainstream. EPIC FU is a new way of thinking about popular culture — it’s about conversation and interaction. Entertainment is a two-way street now.

The standard of production and quality of the show is so good that it can complete any other real Television show. The video below has flurry of information on Twitter. Enjoy and comment below about your opinion on Internet TV shows of these sorts.

Snooze your e-mail with Hit Me Later

How you keep track of mail which is important and you need to follow-up on it some later time. Well my idea is that I simply read them and again turn them into unread e-mail status. That mean I have to work on it some other time.

Guys at HitMeLater.com have a better option.

Just forward any email to 24@hitmelater.com and we’ll resend it to you 24 hours later.

You can replace “24″ with any number or day. For example, forward it to 4@hitmelater.com and you’ll get it back four hours later. Send it to wednesday@hitmelater.com and we’ll send it back to you the first Wednesday morning after today.

HitMeLater is free, secure, spamless, and doesn’t require registration.
