Promote Your Blog Via Off-Line Media

For a $50 fee and $31.25 annually, my blog’s name will be visible to everyone who spots my car. In this day and age of “Googling” everything that strikes an interest, I’m sure the name might stick with a few people who will search it at a later date.

Andrew G R owner of Jobacle, a career advice and employment news blog writes.

He definitely has a point, can’t say why people do not opt to advertise their blog via off-line media. Television, Newspaper and local cable TV can prove a better choice for off-line advertising and branding depending on the subject and the kind of audience your blog covers.

But in india we can’t put our blog name as our number plate, we don’t have vanity number plate system here but anyway we can emboss it on back. few people will definitely Google by seeing it on your car.

how many other ways of off-line blog promotion you can suggest. share your ideas in comment below.

Meet The Cheat Crazy Blogger -Part 2 Identity Theft

November 28, 2009 by Shanker Bakshi

Before start reading this post just have a look at the Part No. 1 so that you can have some idea about this matter. In short, some crazy blogger lifted one of my post and over 40 plus posts from Leif’s blog and refused to remove these stolen posts from his blog when contacted to do so.

I tried unveiling this mystery man, from whois I got some details about  the owner of crazyblogger[dot]net blog, as per this whois data record the guy who own that blog is Ravi Kiran, I also got his phone number, I Immediately wrote to his web host to shutdown his website. I called up this guy but surprised to listen to what he told me over phone, I asked him whether he can wrote a mail about it so that I and share it with my readers, here is what he wrote me in email:

This is Ravi Kiran as per your suggestion I met my family advocate and explained about our telephonic discussion. He said he will put on enquire about what all had happened. As I have no internet facility to my pc I’ll be using cybercafés for my internet requirement. My advocate said he to put an enquiry on all the cybercafés where I use.

Actually it’s a case of identity theft; someone has registered that site in Ravi Kiran’s name as he told me over phone. This guy is now decided to take legal action against that culprit who used his credentials to get web space and created crazyblogger[dot]net.

UPDATE : eWebGuru Finally decided to Suspand his Account . CRAZYBLOGGER[dot]NET is a history now.

Thanks guys for your support.

Meet the Cheat Crazy Blogger -Part 1

November 25, 2009 by Shanker Bakshi

The other morning I got this email from one of my blog reader Leif Cage stating that someone had stolen one of my blog posts. Well this is something you don’t want to read in the morning, but I know it happens, a bad start to the day.

Some grubby useless fellow always wants to make a living without dusting their butt; they want everything without doing anything. I asked this filthy guy to remove the post immediately from his blog but to my surprise till today I didn’t get any reply from him to my humble request and that very post is still his on his blog, maybe he want me to write this post about him so that he can gain some cheap popularity and backlink from my blog.

Leif Cage told me in another mail that the same guy has stolen more than 40 blog posts from his blog, I mean that ridiculous. It seems this shameful guy with malicious intent is running his blog only on stuff stolen from various resources. Please check up whether this dishonorable guy has lifted any of your post too.

Now as he refused to reply I am taking some serious steps against him.

AdSense Policy Violation

This guy is using Google AdSense on his blog, as per AdSense Program if someone involve in publishing of Hacking/cracking content on their sites or publish posts on which someone else has legal rights then it’s a straight violation of AdSense policy and their Google AdSense account could be cancelled. It is Google’s policy to respond to notices of alleged copyright infringement.

Affiliate Network Violation

The same policy usually adopted by all leading affiliate networks, they don’t want their affiliate products to appear on a site which built entirely on infringe content material.

Contacting Web Host

This site is hosted on a Delhi based web hosting service provider eWebGuru.com . Here are the other whois details regarding ownership of that blog. This is the major rescue as it will not only save me from getting my original post removed from that blog rather it will shut down the entire site. No web Hosting service provider wants their user to earn bad name from them.

Original Post on my blog published on 24.05.2009

Shanker Bakshi dot Com turns a two years old mature guy today (Cheers!). It was an interesting, learning and very exciting journey. So far so good and I have enjoyed every bit of it thoroughly.  Off course during this period I made “Some” money (IF not BIG MONEY), learned so many new lessons about blogging, blog traffic, making money, how to establish a blog brand and many other techniques. Life is a journey in which you always keep on learning new things and experimenting with new ideas. There is still couple of things which I need to fix. This Blog’s PR is one of them.

I take this opportunity to thanks those that helped me to blog better. “Mostly Blog”ger don’t feel like sharing the source of their information and knowledge, bad thing, I think you must give credits to all those who lend a helping hand.

This is not the complete list but I would like to mention people who really help me out to get closer to my dreams.

John Chow

John chow: We share talks over IM, he always be there to help me and guide me whenever I dice a question before him.  Much has been said about him on this blog. He is my mentor and will be a guru for eternity. Thank you John for what you did to make me who I am.

Abhinav SonkarAbhinav Sonkar: Tell me one thing; do you like the design of this blog? Abhinav is the guy who made this blog look super cool, Isn’t it? I pointed him to one blog and ask him “hey abhi, can you make my blog look like that”. In an hour or so he came back to me with some codes and tweaks and made this blog look better than I could imagine. This passionate guitarist taught me how to install WordPress locally, How to integrate google Custom search in a blog theme and many other valuable implications. Thanks very much Abhinav for sharing your tech “GeekNess” on my blog. You are an amazing guy.

Yan Susanto

Yan Susanto: He is really a great guy, recommends that “Thau Shall Blog”, educate me on how to use social media sites to generate traffic, how to get backlinks and so many other important things about blogging. Recently we were discussing how to choose right keywords to target organic search engine traffic.

MarleneMarlene: The girl who inspired me to switch over my blog from shankerbakshi.blogspot.com to self hosted WordPress back in November 2007. Thanks Marlene for giving me the sheer beauty and wonderful blogging tool WordPress. Your command on blog designs is incredible. Thanks for being there all the time.

I should also mention here that Ajith Prasad of Dollar Shower has made a SEO study on this blog recently and suggested some fixes which also means that I need to make some changes in the blog theme very soon.

The above list is not complete; there are so many other people who help me in one or the other way during my blogging voyage in last couple of years.

Here are some big accomplishments during last year in images:

So Many People With So Little to Say

What is Blogging

I found this demotivating yet very interesting quote about blogging at despair.com. It’s a place where you can find so many other demotivating facts about life.

Do you think it’s true? Every person and their dogs have now started blogging. It’s very rare when I found some really fresh new content in blogsphere. Every other person is mentoring as how to blog.  I don’t know about you but I don’t see any harm in this situation. I love to see so many people with so little to say, I mean it. Well everyone has a mouth to shout at loud.

What is your take on this?

Do You Want to Become Rich Overnight?

August 14, 2009 by Shanker Bakshi

Girlwithlaptop

Are you dreaming to make hell lot of money from the very first day of your blogging? Do you wish that you will start your blog on Sunday and by the weekend your PayPal account will be flooded with American dollars? Are you inspired by those “Become Rich Overnight” stories and wish to buy your first Mercedes Benz within the first fortnight of starting of your blog.

Well truly speaking you can dream of anything you wish but the hard reality is that it’s next to impossible to make all these dreams turn in reality possible as fast (I wish all good luck to you though). People spend years of hard work to earn their first penny from their online business.

Why most of the people fail at online business?

They dream of making quick money. They think it’s easy to start it all and make hand full of money without giving much pain to their butt, but the hard reality is that you have to work hard to establish your web presence first, you need to make yourself up and above of hundred and thousands of other newbie who will follow you and your recommendation.

-          I know it took me several months to sell my first affiliate product.

-          I remember it took me a year to sell my first private ad on this blog.

-          I remember it took me almost one year and nearly 400 articles base when someone included my review in testimonial with industries “A” Lister bloggers and internet marketers.

Nothing comes in life easy

You need to build a strong and deep foundation, like

It just like when you see a beautiful building you must realize the huge amount of hard work that has been gone into structuring its sturdy foundation.

-Extracted from my guest post at John Chow

Break-Even Point

You must have learned about this if you are a commerce graduate, break-even point is where total costs is equals to total sales revenue and the company neither makes a profit nor suffers a loss.

Some time it took a business owner several hard and tough months to reach to a breakeven point level, after that you can expect your profits. The same goes with blogging and online business. You need to put in extra efforts, your time and lot of energy to get yourself up to a level where you can demand money.

So in a nutshell I advise any newbie in the business or to someone who wish a start an online business

-          It’s very hard believe me ( forget about those overnight rich stories)

-          Do not expect any money in first few months

-          Vigorously work without making any money for several months or years for that matter.

-          Keep trying, there are no shortcuts to success.

-          I guarantee, you if you do not rest and keep on doing hard work one day you will get there

To your blogging success

John Chow

I like john chow a lot, he inspire me to work harder and harder towards my goal, actually I started blogging in 2007 after reading some of his top posts, I consider him as my mentor. Besides he helps me a lot in my blogging and we regularly shares talk over IM chat.

Who is a mentor?

  • Serve as a teacher or trusted counselor;
  • A wise and trusted guide and advisor.

Do you try to copy your mentor?

You don’t always have to innovate; there is nothing wrong with copying. Usually I get this sort of comment that I try to imitate John, well if you watch this blog you will find it is very much similar to his blog design. I don’t think it something wrong that I am doing, it happens when you are a big fan of someone or you inspire with someone you try look and act like him or her.

Who is your Blog Mentor/Idol/Inspiration?

I would like to take this opportunity to ask you whom you like, who is your blogging mentor or whom you try to copy/imitate.

“I WOULD PREFER TO BE A HONEST FAILURE THAN TO BE A CORRUPT SUCCESS”.

This morning one of my friends e-mailed me, asking me to guide him whether he should join a “specific” program which pays for clicking ads. My answar was striaght “NO” to this. These sorts of programs called PTC means they promise to pay you huge amount just for clicking ads on web sites and mails. If any one of you involved in these sorts of programs I strongly advise you to please get out of it as soon as possible.  These programs can’t make you rich and the most importantly these are not legitimate. Remember there is no short cut to success and to become rich you really have work hard, use your brain to productivity and creativity.

Choose the long and hard way, use your potential, explore possibilities and strengthen the entrepreneur in you.  Aim high and always work hard to make your dream turn into reality. Come out of your comfort zone and test ablities against all odds, push yourself hard toward your dream goals. As I mentioned it hundred and thousand times already on this blog, saying again, there is no short cut to success.

It will help you understand what went wrong with your blogging, and learn exactly how you can start using it to start profiting from your blog today! It’s from my friend David Risley, a successful six figure blogger.
