Promote Your Blog Via Off-Line Media

For a $50 fee and $31.25 annually, my blog’s name will be visible to everyone who spots my car. In this day and age of “Googling” everything that strikes an interest, I’m sure the name might stick with a few people who will search it at a later date.

Andrew G R owner of Jobacle, a career advice and employment news blog writes.

He definitely has a point, can’t say why people do not opt to advertise their blog via off-line media. Television, Newspaper and local cable TV can prove a better choice for off-line advertising and branding depending on the subject and the kind of audience your blog covers.

But in india we can’t put our blog name as our number plate, we don’t have vanity number plate system here but anyway we can emboss it on back. few people will definitely Google by seeing it on your car.

how many other ways of off-line blog promotion you can suggest. share your ideas in comment below.

Winner of Define Blogging Contest

October 30, 2009 by Shanker Bakshi

If you remember I ask you to define blogging sometime back. Read this post if you can’t recollect. And I also proposed that the one who will define blogging in the most funniest, spicy and comical way will get one FREE copy of my eBook “dot Com guru Guide Twitter Traffic” worth $ 19.95.

My blogger friend and internet marketer Yan Susanto has to decide the winner but since he was travelling through some remote area of china and internet was not easily accessible to him so it took some time for him to come up with the results. He “appeared” few moments back and here is what he has decided.

In the truest sense of being funny, I can’t help but pick the entry by Nathan.

“Blogging is a superhero thing, a nobody by day and a blogger by night.”

I think it’s very, very true and if I could borrow a line from Gabe (wish I could pick both of you), a more relevant one should be:

“Blogging is a superhero thing, a nobody by day and a blogger by night in your underwear pretending to be more knowledgeable, rich, and charismatic than you really are.”

How else can we possibly be someone we are not offline? Certainly, blogging gives us the opportunity to pretend to be till we really are. Isn’t that fantastic?

-YAN SUSANTO

I like the way he mix it up definition given by Nathan and Gabe. So I am giving one FREE copy to each one of them.

Congratulation to both of you guys Nathan and Gabe. I am sending your FREE copy of “dot Com Guru Guide to Twitter Traffic” in via emails.

And Thanks very much for all who participated in this little fun.

Yaro-Starak

When I started my blogging this guy was at 5 thousand FeedBurner subscribers and making few thousand dollars pouring in his account every month, but now he is at the top, regarded as the best mentor of this skill of blogging. I am taking about one of my favorite blogger and internet marketer, Yaro Starak, if you really wish to know learn how to blog for money and wealth then must watch this video I am sharing with you below.

You know how you always see Internet marketers selling products about how to make money online and it seems all they do is make money by teaching how to make money? Yeah, I’m pretty skeptical too, and that’s why I like this video. In the second half of this video Yaro Starak takes you behind the scenes of two case studies of people who are using his online marketing principles to build businesses in unique niches:

  • Fran Kerr is helping people treat acne with alternative methods.
  • Jay Jay is a professional illusionist and magician, who teach people his tricks using online video.

The start of the video is really inspiring, as Yaro takes you through a slide-show from his 8-month trip around the world. During his trip he conducted two different membership site launches in two different countries. One of these launches alone generated $211,969 and the other resulted in a $20,000 a month income stream. Yaro did this all while living in a different exotic city each week, traveling and running his business. Doesn’t that sound like an awesome lifestyle? The membership site model can grant some amazing lifestyle freedoms and I’m excited by what Yaro is teaching. I like learning from people who are actually living the life they teach is possible. Watch this video and I know you will be excited by the possibilities too.

unfomfortableSmall

Actually we all keen to live an easy life. We always love to create a very cozy comfort zone around us, we feel bumpy if someone ask us do anything which falls beyond our comfort zone. This habit of being always living in comfort zone never makes you push yourself to do extraordinary things or to do things in extraordinary ways.

You never try those “New Scary Things”, you never push yourself hard. You start thinking that there so many things that you never been able to do in life, there are certain big things in this world which are not made for you, it’s ultimately end up living an ordinary life.

How to come out of that comfort zone? And why it is important?

Well I am nobody to ask you to come out of your comfort zone, but I know that you always wanted to do certain things which you are not doing right now, aren’t you? Do you feel that you are not made to do those things which you are doing at present? Are you feeling uncomfortable with your present situation? It’s good for you because this discomfort will help you to get out of your comfort zone and do the things which you really love to do.

Have you heard about this theory of “shooting for the moon”?  Steven K Scott is a great mentor, philosopher and thinker; he explains this theory and believes that one way that you can force yourself come out of this comfort zone is to aim too high, instead of setting “realistic” goals. Set “impossible” goals, that is, goals that push you totally out of your comfort zone.

This seems to be a crazy thing at first place but if you do this you will soon realize that it’s the best thing that you can do to achieve incredible success. I want to share this with you that since the time I have adopted this theory I have seen amazing improvement in my blogging business.   It has made a huge difference in my prosperity. Things which were appear to be impossible once now become handy. The dreams which were beyond reach are now getting closer and closer. Hit the bull eyes, living the dream. Test this theory and share your experience too.

Playing With Emotions

Marriage and Beyond

This morning I got one message from my friend Jennie, she was in trouble, her blog was down from last couple of days, initially she felt it was just a glitch but it was worse than she was thinking, her web host EzNet-Hosting.com close down everything and run away draining down all databases.

She started this blog “Marriage and beyond” in 2005, wrote close to 1,400 articles and her blog witnessed every big occasion of her life, be full of deep emotions, sentiments and passion. It was like a big shock to her.

She did some digging about the host and found through whois that the domain was transferred to a new owner, she ask me if I can do something about it.

When I check up I found that this new owner is a Chennai based Indian guy , after many tries I was able to talked to this guy over phone, I was can’t believe what he told me, he said he has won this domain EzNet-Hosting.com in a contest. I felt surprised to hear this. I asked if he could give me further detail how he got this domain, he then referred me to the following thread at digital point forum.

Click Image to visit Digital Point Forum Thread

Just have a look at it how shamelessly this web host is offering a domain on which he already sold hosting spaces to many blog publishers and developers just to change the ownership and parting all responsibilities on somebody else shoulder. I mean this is something ridiculous, how someone could do this, selling web spaces and then run off ditching many clients in between.

Jennie somehow manages to restart her blog again but lost so much in recollecting things again, you can read her post on this hosting disaster HERE.

Stand on the Shoulder of Giants

I really don’t understand when it comes to web hosting why people chooses a unknown web host instead of a big and renowned web hosting service provider. It always very safe to host your WordPress blog with some hosting giants, WordPress also recommends hosting provider like BlueHost, DreamHost, and GoDaddy. I advise you – if you are with some “CHEAP” web hosting company of closet corner than change it to any of the webhost suggested.

WordPress backup Plugin

Make sure to take your database backup from time to time. My friend Austin Matzko has solution for your all database back-up problems. He has made wonderful WordPress Data Back-Up Plugin which creates database everyday and sends it to your provided e-mail address. This is a must install Plugin, in case anything bad happened to your blog this will save you getting insane.

Also Backup your Image folder

You WordPress Images are hardcoded in your post pointing to a WP content folder which contains your post images. I advise you to back-up this folder also from time to time.

See if you could extend any HELP

I have explained above what had happened to Jennie’s blog, I make an appeal here if you have any suggestion or if you wish to help her in getting her database back from his runaway HOST you can do so by leaving your comment below. I or Jennie will contact you.

Disclaimer

I am writing this post on the basis of information provided by aggrieved blogger Jennie and on my own prima Facie findings. If you think information provided in the post above are untrue or are different from what have been stated above I invite to make clear your point by  writing to me at the e-mail address given on contact page. I will look into this and update the post accordingly.

What Lessons a Blogger Can Learn From the Movie Slumdog Millionaire?

March 11, 2009 by Shanker Bakshi
Filed under Blogging Ideas and Guide

slumdog-millionaire

Eight Academy awards winner movie Slumdog Millionaire is adoption of Vikas Swaroop Best selling novel “Q & A”. Directed by Danny Boyle the story moves around the street boy Jamal who is a contestant on the Indian version of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? (Kaun Banega Crorepati) hosted by Prem Kumar (Anil Kapoor) in which he won 20 Million Rupees.

Well for me I think there is a lot that you can learn from this movie but if you wish to associate this movie with your blogging experience here are the three basic things that you can study from it.

[1] Get your answer from your experience:

The boy in the movie knows all the answer because he has already gone in his tough journey of life through various situations where he learned the answers to those questions.Life teaches us every moment, it’s all on us how we grab that knowledge and use it for our purpose to become a successful person.

So next time before you ask anyone any sort of question try to solve it or clutch the answer by yourself. There is nothing that you can’t do if somebody else is already doing it.

[2] You are required to know exactly what is needed at that time, it dose not matter if you don’t know about hundred other things.

There are four kinds of persons you can see in a society;

One who don’t know but he knows that he don’t know. (That’s a smart one)

One who don’t know but also don’t know that he don’t know (That’s a stupid guy)

One who knows and also know that he knows (That’s super smart)

One who knows but don’t know that he knows (That’s a careless freak)

SO better you first know what exactly you know and what you don’t, confusing, let’s say it in other words; that’s you must know what your strength and weaknesses are. Like the guy in the movie. Don’t mass-up with a thing on which you have low or little knowledge (lets phone a friend)

[3] Take the hard way to success

Though winning a quiz show and becoming a millionaire seems pretty easy way, but the boy struggle all his life to reach to that level. Unlike his brother he chooses the tough hard but honest way to the success.

There are no short cuts to success, don’t confuse yourself with those happy go lucky stories, there is only one thing which always pays and that’s hard work and nothing else.

Seven years back when I arrived in this beautiful city of India “chandigarh” there were only few bucks in my pocket, I was not even able to afford one meal per day but today after all these years of hardship I have every thing which is necessary to make a living, a happy family, a car, a cozy bed almost every luxury of life (owning a house is still big dream in India). The only thing in my mind was this faith that if I will work hard there is nothing that will stop me to reach where I am right now.

Question for you

Tell me how you like the movie Slumdog Millionaire and what lesson you learnt from the movie (if any)

How Much Confident You Are About Your Blogging Success?

Matt Mullenweg at WCI Showing his picture when he was 17 and own a company

“Success is counted sweetest by those who never succeed” Okay accepted. But whenever you endeavor your journey there is this imaginary glorified portrait that you have in your mind about the success you are wishing to achieve.

Can you sense that success now? Well you must make yourself able to do that.  It will make your journey easier and enjoyable.

I always knew I was going to be rich. I never doubted it for a minute.

- Rakesh Jhunjhunwala.

This super kid ranks somewhere around 1062 in forbes.com list of billionaires. Rakesh is a stock broker by profession and usually drops crap on his blog but I guess the confident that he is going to be rich has taken him there where he think he belong. This is the only thing I like about him.

Be Clear

If you are “blogging for success” there should not be any doubt in your mind about where you are heading and how you would proceed.  In my two years of blogging venture there were some really good moments to cherish. Love the way things are going and have earned some good friends along.

And Confident

Being very sure or positive about something. Your belief in yourself and your abilities. Your faith in yourself. It will definitely make your acts look smarter.

It will be interesting to know what success means to you and what’s your mantra to get on to it. and off course how much confident you are about your blogging Success?
