Gurus -Do They Really Selling Secrets of Success?

business-gurus

Well as they say “Give a man a fish and he’ll eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he’ll steal your fish” All these big Internet Marketing and Blogging Gurus are selling their marketing skills, they claims they are revealing what they have learned through out their entire life, they claims they are sharing the inside secrets.

My question is dose they really shares secret of their success?” If someone promises you that if you join his course he will teach you how he has build an empire and how he has made a huge ton of money, Dose he really teaches you inside secrets? Well who want to share his Trade Secrets? Is there really anybody? off course not, they are not fool, they are gurus, I’m also not saying that you are a fool who spend so much of money for joining these promising course, the reason is If they will not share the complete secret still at least they will show you a path through which you can sense where to head to reach to that success.

You can really learn a lot if not the whole. There no one in this world who will tell you the complete story about how he has made the entire empire how he succeeded in Internet affiliate marketing or in blogging for that matter. ShoeMoney himself confirm this in his latest 12 weeks Internet marketing course. He says:-

“Affiliate marketing is a lone wolf career.  Contrary to public belief, there is no website that is going to take your hand and walk you through it.  No forum, no blog, nothing.”

No body dares to share these well earned secrets

Have you earned it?

you can not become a super affiliate or a super blogger by just joining a blog, master mind course, but surely this will help you understand how these people has pass through and made it happened and you can also sense a bit how long and how hard these guys has done to establish themselves as a marketing guru or blogging god.

You see what you want to see

And what you learn is also what you want to learn, sounds crazy, in a class if 200 students join a course of blogging or affiliate marketing dose not guarantee that each one of those 200 students will rule the affiliate marketing world or blogging world next following years. Only those will succeed who have that extra zeal, a passion and ability to execute what they learned. You can be a good learner but you also need to be a good executor. You must also learn the art of executing your learning.

Whether you should join these courses by Bog Gurus?

Definitely yes, it will help you to get first hand experience to learn from the master. They will not teach you all inside secrets of their success but by joining these courses it will definitely motivate you to reach at a certain level in your niche. Hope you will learn and then earn hell lot of money from teaching of these big Gurus.

Over to you

Tell me what you think about it? When someone ask you to join his course and he will show you up how he made huge money, what exactly he means. Dose he really tell you the whole story or it’s a marketing game and nothing else?

And When Google Hires Goats

May 4, 2009 by Shanker Bakshi

Have you heard this news about google hiring 200 Goats to mow, fertilize fields?

It’s an unusual idea so every one is talking about it.

At our Mountain View headquarters, we have some fields that we need to mow occasionally to clear weeds and brush to reduce fire hazard. This spring we decided to take a low-carbon approach: Instead of using noisy mowers that run on gasoline and pollute the air, we’ve rented some goats from California Grazing to do the job for us (we’re not “kidding”). A herder brings about 200 goats and they spend roughly a week with us at Google, eating the grass and fertilizing at the same time. The goats are herded with the help of Jen, a border collie. It costs us about the same as mowing, and goats are a lot cuter to watch than lawn mowers. [ As in ; The Official Google Blog

MG Siegler from TechCrunch visited the fields and shot this video which TechCrunch shares on their “ESTEEM” tech blog.

Can you tell me why there is so much noise about it?

Seven Things You Do Not Know About Me

April 13, 2009 by Shanker Bakshi

Ages back my dear friend Brian Hawkins tagged me in a meme where I need to write about seven things which you don’t know about me, (which probably wish I wouldn’t tell ). I was busy tweaking my theme at that time, now the thing has been settle down so let me do this meme job. Well there is a lot you can found about myself on this blogs, as say “my life is like an open book” but still there are couple of secret pages which I would like to turn now and bring to your knowledge. Before I start let me tell you that this is the first time I’m trying this meme thing, so be cool with it, but I must tell you that this is really wonderful to be a part of this, thanks again Brian for tagging me.

[1] I have come a long long way baby

Life was never been a bed of roses for me, since my childhood I struggle a lot for even small basic things. I’m the lovable youngest kid among four brothers and one sister. I belong to a very small village in India and nearly eight years back when I landed on this most beautiful city of India Chandigarh, I had only Rupees 1500 [ equivalent to US$38] in my pocket and after hardship and struggle of eight years I build an assets of approximately US$50000. Its not something very big but I pat my back for achieving this because I know there a time in my life when I was struggling for day meal. There is still a long long way to go (before I sleep).

[2] And they named me “Love Guru”

I love to see when people calls me The dot Com Guru,  This is a title given by me to myself, I’m a self proclaimed dot Com Guru and I wish to be refer by this title, but when I was in college my friend who were in love usually discussed there love problems with me and look for answers. Even I felt surprised when I found myself able to understand their love problem and sort it out in no time. The reason why they called me Love Guru was also that at that time I usually surrounded with some beautiful Indian girls. (Oh those were the days).

[3] I tired my hands at various form of Art

I’m a jack of all trade whether it’s painting, cartooning, caricaturing, singing, dancing, Voice over, Dubbing, Anchoring, Radio Jockeying poetry and writing novels and short stories. After attempting to all these forms of art and after reading some of John Chow’s best post  I decided that blogging is the thing where I have to claim my stake and so far with the support from all you guys I think am “Doing Good” in it. Nearly a decade ago I wrote a short story “Broken Wings”. Marlene once requested it. Finally I have decided to give it to you for your delight.

Here you can download “BROKEN WINGS” (a fictional love story)

Here you can read some of my Hindi Poems if you wish (there is language translator active)

Here you can watch my Media Videos

[4] Am a finance Guy and not a Tech Geek

There are several articles on this blog which explains about how to deal with Search Engine Optimization, Installing WordPress, Tweaking Themes, playing with Plugins but PHP and HTML is not my thing, am a qualified Finance Accountant and before starting blogging in 2007 I never even heard about these stuff. But again there nothing in this world that you can command if you really have passion, willing to do hard work and have that zeal to learn. I feel like Geeky, there is a fully loaded Geek inside me.

[5] Shanker Bakshi is not my real name

My real name refers to something “Heavy Mythological Thing”. When I was in school and even in college people used to make fun of my name. So the first thing I did after passing out was to change my name to shanker Bakshi. Shanker is the god of destruction, and Bakshi is my surname. According to google I’m the third most famous shanker in this world. Thanks Google for giving me that place.

[6] My wife never reads my blog post.

But she is nice and supports me from the bottom of her heart. What Shivani (My Wife) thinks about blogging is that this is something I’m passionate about and I working hard to earn a big name in this field. I know she wish to see me on the top of the world. Once I asked her; hey Shivani could you please help me dropping 300 Entrecard daily to promote my blog in my niche?

[7] I still love to watch Cartoon on Television

And my favorite show on television is Pink Panther, they say there is a kid inside every one of us, by the time you grow up you lost that kid in this complicated world. But I’m lucky that kid is still alive in me, not only I love to watch Cartoon on Television I also play with them on the street. I am waiting for the day when my 5 years old son Aditya Sharma will play and dance with me.

I guess I have unwrapped myself enough. Brian I must tell you I love to do this and sorry for the delay. Let me Tagged seven people but before that all of you must know the rules for this meme :-

  • Link to your original tagger(s) and list these rules in your post.
  • Share seven facts about yourself in the post.
  • Tag seven people at the end of your post by leaving their names and the links to their blogs.
  • Let them know they’ve been tagged.

I’m finished, let me lock my seven in this series:

[1] Marlene - I know you love to do Memes, you have done so many can you please do this one for me.

[2] Amor - You write so many thing about yourself let us know some untold secrets about you this time.

[3] Michael Aulia - Hey buddy speak up some inside scoop about you. Will you?

[4] Luis Torres - I don’t know much about you dear, share some secrets.

[5] Dennis Edell - You escaped from Brian’s list let me trap you here.

[6] Nilo Evangelista – How can I forget you my graphical genius.

[7] Billy Boxer Girl – where are you Nikky ? Lets fill in your about me page section with this meme.

Please Don’t Choose a Leader Who Would Be Dying In Next Five Years by illness

Sorry going Off Topic.

World’s largest democracy India is going through elections again and it’s not a new thing and not a big thing either. This is the thing they love to do again and again from years and will love to keep on doing for years.

The set up of Indian democracy is so designed that if 250 odd elected parliamentarians want then they can choose any dumbass as their leader who becomes head of the state. It dose not matter if he is also an elected member of parliament or not, so we never know before election and even after final results that who is going to be our next Prime Minister.

India has leading lot of youth in the world, the whole world eying on India’s this biggest asset. But we hardly see youth contributed anything in politics, India always ruled by old, mature, jaded and aged politicians. Indian youth like me always whining about the system but never took initiative to change the system.

Again there is bunch of old boys tussling to get on to that prime minister chair, but I believe we must give a chance to some young gun to rule this country now. Let choose this time youngest lot for a change and not elect the one who would be dying in next five years of tenure by sickness.

Bleed India

On one hand where Times of India Initiative lead India searching new leaders to lead this largest democracy on the other hand there is one parody site which speaks about bleed India; Masters of the Scam, Tigers of the Tightrope: according to Bleed India they deserve some acknowledgement of their genius – in staying above the law, beyond the law, in making it and in breaking it.

Google Initiative

Google India don’t want to play a silent spectator this time around, they have partnered with India’s leading news paper Hindustan Times and  launched the Google India Elections Center page. Flutter is The New Twitter

Slate V has come up with a comic video to monk those who are addicted to micro blogging. Remember I posted something sort of last week also.

With a fictitious company called Flutter which is a micro blogging site with 26 words to express “what are you doing”, CEO Zak Ryman comically illustrate what would be twitter doing in our lives in coming years.

Although it’s a video made for fun but somewhere it also make a point to think are we really going this much crazy with “twitter”. End is hilarious.

Your Privacy Is On Stake Now

April 3, 2009 by Shanker Bakshi

With Google entering your street with Google Map Street View raises concern over public privacy. Google’s Street View Car is moving in streets with 360-degree camera on its roof. It’s been couple of year google doing it but I raise this issue today as there is one very serious incident that has occurred in a Buckinghamshire village where mob thwarts Google Street View car.

TimesOnline Reports:

A spate of burglaries in a Buckinghamshire village had already put residents on the alert for any suspicious vehicles. So when the Google Street View car trundled towards Broughton with a 360-degree camera on its roof, villagers sprang into action. Forming a human chain to stop it, they harangued the driver about the “invasion of privacy”, adding that the images that Google planned to put online could be used by burglars. As police made their way to the stand-off, the Google car yielded to the villagers. For now, Broughton remains off the internet search engine’s mapping service.

This is all very sad. If you ask me I think there is no harm if google record your street view with its 360 Degree Camera and load it on Maps for the whole world to view it.

Do you think your privacy is really on stake with google starting services like Earth, Maps, and Street View? Do you really think it’s a threat to a national security or to a small village for that matter?

Now see what this guy has to say;

“This is an affluent area. We’ve already had three burglaries locally in the past six weeks. If our houses are plastered all over Google it’s an invitation for more criminals to strike.”

It’s an interesting debate; I would like to see your take on this. Please comment below.

Earth Hour and My New Blue WordPress Premium Theme

March 28, 2009 by Shanker Bakshi

I wish and hope you all are supporting Earth Hour this 28th March. It’s for a good cause and I support it from the bottom of my heart. But earth hour is also responsible for this new skin on my blog which you see now. Yes that true, interestingly I wanted my blog to cover up in black on Earth House day (They say a website with black background consumes less power: see report here) so couple of weeks ago I try to tweak my blog to make it composed in black and white color. During this test I mess up widely with my theme CSS and lost it entirely. It was sad because I that previous theme of mine and wasn’t in mood to change it. I tried hard to bring back that premium theme of mine but it was all in vain so without wasting much time on fetching back “My Lost World” I changed it with this new premium theme.

So how it looks now? If you ask me it looks more cool and collected in this new blue avatar of it. What you say?

See Opportunity in every Accident

So while preparing my blog ready for Earth Hour in black outfit I lost my previous theme, but instantly I injected this new Blue Premium News Theme to it. I guess this is what they mean by saying “see opportunity in every accident”. I lost my old blog Skin it was a sad misfortune, but I use this as an opportunity to give it a new look. Take Responsibility for Your Life

March 24, 2009 by Shanker Bakshi

responsibilty

Everything you experience today is the result of choices you have made in the past. All blame is a waste of time. Be ruthlessly honest with yourself. Be in charge of your own inventory that you have built up over these years.

We see people whining about situations, rants about system, complains about organizations, but if you sit back, relax  and think about what you are today, you will find there were moments in your life where you took the decisions to be what you are today. You have made this world of yours around you.

When I was in college and used to prepare for final exams this one thing was always there in my mind “If you do what you always dose, you will get what you always get”. This implies both ways, mean if you always work hard you will get the same result of success and if you go otherwise, you know better what you will get.

You wonder why there are blogger you earn hell lot of money but at the same time you find it difficult to earn as mush to pay for your yearly hosting charges. Before you whining about your blogging niche, your lack of Geekyness, lack of time, poor command on grammar, lack of funds,

You see the beautiful building and don’t think about its foundation.

I mean just look at this guy’s blog, he is blogging since 2004, initially for first two years he used to write two to three article per day and no body bother to read them and make any comments. Today he is the undisputed No. 1 blogger from India with over 35000 RSS subscriber base. The thing which probably brought this gentle to the top would definitely be the faith in him and sheer hard work. You can not substitute these things either.

What Lessons a Blogger Can Learn From the Movie Slumdog Millionaire?

March 11, 2009 by Shanker Bakshi

slumdog-millionaire

Eight Academy awards winner movie Slumdog Millionaire is adoption of Vikas Swaroop Best selling novel “Q & A”. Directed by Danny Boyle the story moves around the street boy Jamal who is a contestant on the Indian version of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? (Kaun Banega Crorepati) hosted by Prem Kumar (Anil Kapoor) in which he won 20 Million Rupees.

Well for me I think there is a lot that you can learn from this movie but if you wish to associate this movie with your blogging experience here are the three basic things that you can study from it.

[1] Get your answer from your experience:

The boy in the movie knows all the answer because he has already gone in his tough journey of life through various situations where he learned the answers to those questions.Life teaches us every moment, it’s all on us how we grab that knowledge and use it for our purpose to become a successful person.

So next time before you ask anyone any sort of question try to solve it or clutch the answer by yourself. There is nothing that you can’t do if somebody else is already doing it.

[2] You are required to know exactly what is needed at that time, it dose not matter if you don’t know about hundred other things.

There are four kinds of persons you can see in a society;

One who don’t know but he knows that he don’t know. (That’s a smart one)

One who don’t know but also don’t know that he don’t know (That’s a stupid guy)

One who knows and also know that he knows (That’s super smart)

One who knows but don’t know that he knows (That’s a careless freak)

SO better you first know what exactly you know and what you don’t, confusing, let’s say it in other words; that’s you must know what your strength and weaknesses are. Like the guy in the movie. Don’t mass-up with a thing on which you have low or little knowledge (lets phone a friend)

[3] Take the hard way to success

Though winning a quiz show and becoming a millionaire seems pretty easy way, but the boy struggle all his life to reach to that level. Unlike his brother he chooses the tough hard but honest way to the success.

There are no short cuts to success, don’t confuse yourself with those happy go lucky stories, there is only one thing which always pays and that’s hard work and nothing else.

Seven years back when I arrived in this beautiful city of India “chandigarh” there were only few bucks in my pocket, I was not even able to afford one meal per day but today after all these years of hardship I have every thing which is necessary to make a living, a happy family, a car, a cozy bed almost every luxury of life (owning a house is still big dream in India). The only thing in my mind was this faith that if I will work hard there is nothing that will stop me to reach where I am right now.

Question for you

Tell me how you like the movie Slumdog Millionaire and what lesson you learnt from the movie (if any)

Miscellaneous Ramblings of a dot Com Guru – March 2009

dot Com Guru Cola

dot Com Guru Cola

As I told you previously in an article here that I love to write ramble posts. But this one again coming after a long gap, I don’t have any specific reason (or Excuse) for the delay. Its always look great when people sum up their web browsing of past couple of weeks in a post. Its also a ways to convey your readers as where you like to spend your good time reading articles, and off course a way to appreciate your readers, commentators and fellow bloggers So here we go for this month’s ramble post.

1. Worth Reading Article

I wanna share with you couple of article that I found interesting, I wish you could just see how helpful these are and how beautifully written.

[A] Give Each Blog Post a Pretty Face with Flickr

Community and social media guru Chris Brogan talks about how you can give a pretty face by inserting relevant and interesting pictures from Flickr.

“I was asked by a friend on Twitter where I got all the pictures that I use for my blog posts (like the one you see in the top left of this post). The answer is that I get them off Flickr. But there’s more to it than that. Here’s a quick run-through of how I use photos on this site, and some more about Flickr.”

I always try to serve you a mix a nicely written post with Flickr Toping. I always love the idea to give every blog post a face of its own.

[B] How to Shape Your Blogs Brand

Darren Rowse elaborates how to go about branding your blog.

“One of the things that I’ve noticed happen once a blog begins to grow in readership is that a ‘brand’ emerges. This builds from the day you first start a blog and people see it – however it is in this phase after launch that it really becomes established.”
